The patterned metal was made by running it through a rolling mill with a patterned steel plate. A similar effect can be made using texture hammers without a rolling mill. Also a different process can etch texture with ferric chloride. You may want to Google search examples those processes as it's too much for me to explain here. They are new rabbit holes to go down!

This was a great tutorial! Thank you! You mentioned someone named Debbie who does a beautiful job of stamping in solder and that she had an Etsy shop as well as being on Instagram. I would love a link to her Etsy shop if you wouldn’t mind. Or at least the name of her Etsy shop. I am not on Facebook, so I can’t see your group. Thank you so much. Robin

Thank you for this video. Please can you offer help. The solder doesn't seem to stick to my copper. It peels off once cool

It's usually an issue where not enough flux is applied. Flux is your friend!!

How do you make patern on copper blanks ?
@snoozin10118 ай бұрын
I use a rolling mill with texture plates for the textures before I cut the blanks.

The solder listed at Walmart says lead free. Did they change it in just a year?
@snoozin10117 ай бұрын
Any solder you use for making jewelry should be lead free. I'm not sure what Walmart carries.

No, lol. I record on my cell phone and that makes it appear reversed.

I have just got my setup, but my solder won't stick at all, it just crumbles back off 😢 what am I doing wrong?
@snoozin1011 Жыл бұрын
are you using flux? If so, what kind? You must use flux or solder won't stick.

@Susan Wade aka The Artisan's Workshop I tried using borax as a flux?
@snoozin1011 Жыл бұрын
@@bubblefizz9144 that won't work. You need something like Classic Gel Flux that you can do an online search for.

What temperature do you have your solder iron on to get solder to liquify like that? Thanks
