We've done our soft start, too, with our 4th grader. I tried it last year and have just decided it's the best way to go for easing back into a school mindset for us. I've also had my eyes on that geography curriculum for when we're done with learning the states. It looks really good! Howdy from our little one student homeschool in Texas. Thanks for sharing! 🧡

We have been really impressed with Geography 1 after using the States and Capitals from Memoria Press. I probably would have used it anyway just for exposure, but we found States and Capitals a it dry and my son loathed it. Geography 1 has so much background in the student text, he really enjoys it! And I'm thinking this is definitely going to be part of our homeschool flow from here on out as far as easing into the new year with a soft start. That's great that it works for you guys, too :) Thanks for watching!

Omigosh! I didn’t realize you were in western WA! We are down in Vancouver. I love that y’all have done Michael clay Thompson. I have music of the hemispheres - for a couple years now - and really need to get around to reading it. I have an 8th grader and a 4th grader this fall, and I always love when you talk about memoria press, too, as we will use more of that this fall. And we plan to try notgrass for the first time.

Oh gotcha! We are on the westside of the sound :) So many fun things to do down south, I wish we made it down there more often. As with most of MCT, his curriculum takes some getting used to because the set up is so different from your average lesson-based curriculums. Once I got the hang of it, it's been really fun. And Memoria Press has some really great options! I'm not a huge fan of their literature guides, but I've been impressed otherwise for what we've used. Which Notgrass are you guys going to try out??

@@MindfullyLiv oh, nice! we were sort of up that way a week or so ago - at lake quinault! i am actually excited about the lit guides. the funny part is that i grabbed some, and my daughter realized they were the same thing as her d'aulaire's that she loves to hate on. sigh.... but we will maybe approach them differently. she loves to read and is a good writer, but she maybe doesn't love answering a bunch of questions about her reading, aha. we will use their poetry for my 4th grader this year, too - and their geography for both kids. we also like TGTB for LA, and we are using BJU for science and spanish for my 8th grader and apologia swimming creatures for group science that we do with a couple of friends. we definitely have quite a mix of things.

@@cottingtonmae I love it! I'm a giant mixer, too. I think every year I put together core curriculum I look at and consider the D'aulaire's from Memoria Press 😆 I've heard lots of great things about BJU Science ☺

@@MindfullyLiv their science is definitely thorough :O :O lol. it's good, but my ONLY wish is that it was more like 150-160 lessons, rather than 180. it's super hard to fit all those in, if you take ANY days off for zoo trips or hikes, etc. this year, i am trying a better plan for making sure we don't get behind. and.... i totes AM getting the d'aulaire's student book also for my son! my daughter legit still needs to finish hers.

Thanks for the video! I would love a review of Music of the Hemispheres. We are planning on doing the Island level this year and I am unsure how to incorporate the Poetry piece.
