This idea of making a game exclusive instead of selling it regularly barely ever works out on large scale games… but even less on a more niche game like retro bowl 25 lmao they would’ve made sooooo much more money and had a bigger playing base if they just made in a flat price. Smaller games rely on repeat players and this is the opposite on how to do that

I hate that Apple keeps trying to do this, too. Puyo fans already are suffering because the latest game celebrating the franchise's anniversary is exclusively on there, they had the new TMNT Splintered Fates for a while on there (and finally it's free of that hell to come to proper consoles), and now Retro Bowl faces the same thing. All these great games but if you don't use Apple, you're just out of luck

Those are two features I've seen people wish for in the past with the original RB title. It feels like your team is playing in a bubble a lot of the time, really hurts the immersion aspect. Seems like players actually existing in a functional league would be an important factor to mention.

The original game is great! And seasons can pass quick and you would draft new players every year who are fake/created players anyways. So after 2 drafts you gonna probably prefer the players you drafted and also save money on the cap. For $1 you can edit the names, uniform colors and team names, cap amount etc. You can make the NFL minus the official logos and whatever stadium stuff they added. Overall as a big fan of this game, this sounds like an awful deal. Like Softdrink has mentioned in the past we just want a good game, the NFL license doesn't mean much if the simulation, depth and immersion is good.

@@matthewlupton1539 apple does a lot right with Arcade. They don't allow IAP so you never get surprised with having to buy something. Even a lot of paid games now a days will make it so you pretty much end up having to spend $$$ to advance. Also the quality is good, NBA 2K25 just came out and it's on par with the console versions.

I'd like to add that this game DOES NOT have the correct schedules which is super annoying. Also, next year they better add punting and defense while also adding a setting for users not to play those portions. Finally, I think it worth noting that the game has a harder difficulty then past games in my opinion. Yes, most of the time it's very easy to make a pass, but whenever you throw a contested pass it is much more likely that it gets intercepted.

So all the game has is NFL teams and rosters and its only on apple devices in which you have to pay 7 dollars a month to play it?! Is this New Star Games or EA?! Why don't they add in more players like 16 or 18 players so drafting new players and benching them makes sense and they get more experience when sitting behind veteran players, a playable defense or be able to view the defense in game, what about trading players for picks or different contracts instead of saving up coaching credits, being able to edit the field and make it different colors, be able to see league leaders in stats or see team stats, having a setting where if you suck as a coach and you have a losing season for 4 straight seasons you will be fired and have to go to another team and if another team doesn't want you than you have to go back to college or something, or what about being able to view other rosters and seeing player stats from not only the last game or current year or all time stats but what about seeing their stats from a certain year and trading for said player, playbooks where you can make your own custom plays with the routes already in the game along putting players at a certain area like your number 1 Wr on top instead of being on the bottom instead of relying on audibles and given whatever your dumb offensive coordinator gives you, different formations like 3 WR's instead of just 2 WR's and 2 TE's or having a split backfield with 2 RB's or play action plays, being able to edit team names not just cities, a news tab to see recent trades or signings, adding refs and flags, how many times has your WR got jammed by the opposing teams DB and your screwed, etc. But all we get is NFL players and teams and we have to pay 7 dollars a month to play the game, yay?

You should have also brought up that CPU stat tracking in franchise mode is not very good. For instance the passing attempts for QBs will always be extremely low. I saw one game where Mahomes went 2-6 with 90 yards and 2 TDs. Another where Jared Goff went 4-7 and so on

Just played my first game, it’s still good ol Retro Bowl. The stars under the player names confused me at first when I was trying to throw. But I will play more. They should’ve just made this game available for pay in the App Store. It should be at least $5-$15. Not Apple Arcade Only.

Just spend a buck on the original. You can edit teams with it. Only major change that isn’t visual for Retro Bowl 25 is you can view other teams and trade players for players. I’m sure they’ll add that eventually though

LMAO you can edit uniforms, field design, and player names in original version. i turned mine into a mini CFB with conferences and all -- took less than a day and was enjoyable too. thats far more worth your time than $7+ per month!

it’s really just a reskin with real people and updated kick off. what’s the point. i get that you can play as your favorite team or whatever but you can do the same in og retro bowl, and like he said, 0.99$ for the full version. the full version let you change players names, so why don’t you just go change the players name and how they look too. it makes no sense and this is 100% just a cash grab for new star. there’s genuinely no reason to pay $7 for this unless you really super duper want to play as your favorite players

retro bowl is good, especially for a phone game. i wish the dev would work to expand the depth instead of expanding horizontally with college bowl and now nfl retro bowl. the franchise mode could retain the arcadey style with more depth. the other problem is the difficulty options. the second highest difficulty is too easy, and the highest difficulty makes every cpu team feel the same so there is no variety.
