Multiband compression always intimidates me, but the upgrade price was reasonable enough that I’m willing to put in some effort and learn. Sounds good!

Thing is, multibands are rarely actually needed. Unless you like how it sounds on the Mixbus, or maybe some other complex subgroup, a regular compressor + maybe a de-esser is all you need 99% of the time. It's pretty unique as a Mixbus comp, that i agree with.

Great video! I recently picked up Audiority's Polycomp plugin, which is a sort of SMC 2B clone. This one seems more intuitive. Might have to do a comparison. Thanks so much!

Great video like always! The only thing I don’t like about the refresh is the added control panel they added at the bottom to the TubeTech line. I wish it was collapsible.

I tried to replicate the beautiful low end and warmth I got from the SMC on my acoustic guitar with DynOne3 and ProMB. I couldn't do it. They both had a different sound that is still beautiful to them. I'm just demoing this right now. I hope they have a BF sale on top of the current discount.

Dynone and ProMb are very clean compressors. I would not expect to get warmth out of them. Will be hard to compare to this one. You need a tool that adds a bit of saturation if you want warmth. I think you have more chances using Psp Audio OldTimer Mb, Acustica Titanium 3 (there is even a video here on YT comparing the hardware to the acustica plugin) or even better using the new magical Michelangelo by Tone Projects. It's an Eq but then again,, it is so much more than that. If warmth is what you seek then this plugin is next level and is (or at least was ) on intro sale. I find the Softube pricing a bit over the top tbh. I own some of their tools but never got on the 300 per plugin wagon

@@saardean4481 Thank you for your reply. I will definitely try the Oldtimer MB later as I have that. I’m demoing the Michelangelo now and I absolutely love it. I think I’m going to get it. It’s so unique ( for me ) in what it can do. I really like how the SMC sounds on my acoustic but the price is too steep. Even on the upgrade. Between the Michelangelo and SMC, if I had to choose just one, the Michelangelo would be a better bet right?

@@grungefire I would say Michelangelo all day. I just have it for 2-3 days now and the more I study it and test it the more I am impressed. Its an Eq , Multiband Saturator, Dynamics manipulator, stereo field influencer and so much more. For the intro price a no brainer. Smc sounds great but I have so many other tools that I don't feel I need it and also have an allergy on this kind of pricing. But I am only speaking for myself. Hope you make the right choice for you

Ps: also one completely under the radar plugin for adding warmth is Spectre by Wavesfactory. In general if I was you I would try good saturators like good tape emulations in order to see if I. an get to the low end warmth you seek for your guitar

@@saardean4481 Thank you for sharing this. I feel the same way actually. Michel feels like a better value for the cost. You’ve just helped strengthen my confidence in this plugin. I’m just waiting to see if there’ll be a slight increase in the discount to 40% this BF. My fingers are crossed.
