If there are any new testers out there, please understand that is is only one "school" of testing, and in my opinion, a very flawed way of thinking. For example, "QA" is a misnomer, we are "Testers" not "QA". We do NOT have any "gatekeeping" power. We are the "informers" and "explorers" of the product. The purpose of testing is to expose product risks, and then let Product Management make the go-live decision. We inform our stakeholders then we get out of the way. "Quality Assurance" is the job of the business, not the job of a single person. There's many other issues I have with this video, but I feel I'd write a novel here if I were to go on.

I think you have no clue about QA. Quality Assurance is making sure and verifying that the Quality PROCESS is being followed appropriately as per the Quality standards laid out by the company implementing Quality. Quality Control is making sure that the PRODUCTS quality is controlled and maintained as per the quality standard which can be diff for diff companies and industries. Precision industries is diff from Food quality. QA - deals with process and QC deal with product.

@WeNeedRealMusic27 жыл бұрын
This presentation needs quite a bit of work. It is best to rehearse and not be sick. Your slide timings are off. Your glitzy blingee transitions are inappropriate for this rather serious and mostly misunderstood subject matter. I disagree with your feelings about the definition of QA and your initial example of a 'remote' with 4 buttons. Sure, a test engineer could look at the remote and say, 'Yes, it has 4 buttons'. The fact that the remote has the 4 buttons the customer wants is not a guarantee of Quality. Of the many questions-to-be-asked, here is one. What if the buttons are placed in bad locations relative to most users, and thus a usability nightmare? One would say then, yes it works but it is of poor quality. Quality Assurance is not testing. Testing is not Quality Assurance. Testing can only show where software works and where it doesn't work. And that is only if it is tested in its entirety. I've seen many applications with a low defect count. At the same time, those apps were simply eyesores, bulky, and did not flow well. In those cases, they were of poor quality but worked well functionally. "How did QA come into play?" QA has been around with respect to software development for far longer than the 'Dotcom Bust'. Software development and testing has been around since the 1940s. More formal 'QA' began to evolve in the 1950s, when it was recognized that software development needed more rigor and other disciplines in order to achieve product quality. Don't get me wrong though. Software testing is a huge part of the computing industry. In some cases, software testing constitutes as much as 80% of a development effort. 'Quality Analyst' is quite often misused. Be careful if you apply for a job as a 'Quality Analyst' and your intent is to test software. Make sure the job requirements are what you are looking for. In some companies a 'Quality Analyst' is often a position which has nothing to do with software or system testing. That position might be called a 'Software Quality Engineer'. Anyway, this is a huge topic which, cannot be dealt with in a few words. A product of high-quality requires far more than testing. It requires proper specification, requirements-management, various types of reviews and so much more. Both software quality and software testing should begin before the first line of code is ever written. Please do ponder that. Projects often fail because of failure to honor that basic concept.
