This guy is amazingly insightful: “we all want things we don’t have. And that’s the stressful part about living.” Yup.
@2triangles2 жыл бұрын
@Son Darui I don't think we do. I think we often feel stress without thinking about the source or that we blame on other people or circumstances or whatever, when at bottom, it's just a function of not having what we want in that moment. When we recognize that, we can stop blaming other people and either just recognize the situation for what it is or adjust our wants to make the stress go away.

Your falling for a pimp, just like his girls. Don't u understand that???
@MB.772 жыл бұрын
@@elishh8173 Complimenting a man and falling for him are 2 very different things in my opinion. Speaking for myself, I’m able to recognize he’s got those qualities while remaining fully aware he’s a stranger and I have no idea who he is and what he may or may not have done. I’m basing my observations on the way he handled this conversation, that’s why I agree with Diane’s comment, I’ll never actually know this man. I just don’t jump to conclusions regardless of anyone’s lifestyle. Not once did he mention agreeing with violence, intimidation, or exploitation of minors. I’d personally love to hear one of the women who do know him be interviewed by Mark. We’d get a different perspective, without being gullible on that end either. I fully realize this man may be very deceptive, just extremely smooth, tactful and persuasive, with that being said, based on my life experiences, having been around all types of environments myself, I tend to not make assumptions.

I think because of his "White Guy" stereotype that he self proclaims, he naturally falls into those that have a fascination and curiosity for the African American pimp culture that has been so foreign to him, leading him to be somewhat excited. Being from the same city as well and having been exposed a bit to the lifestyle, at least visually, gives them a thread that connects them. I agree he may have overly put himself into the conversation at points and there were a few times i felt Gov was going to expand on one question and then is prevented from doing so. Altogether it was fun and still managed to be a great interview imo

Everyone is a critic.. look it depends how you want to think about these meetings of people.. is it a conversation or is it an interview? Does it matter? More to the point why do you think your opinion matters, why should Mark change for what you think?
@katarinasavic26972 жыл бұрын
@@Matmus well, Mark calls them interviews :) And it kind of does matter. The interviewer has an important role to play in “bringing out the truth” and they can easily skew the conversation and make participants say what they want them to hear. I work in research. I am still a fan of this channel, I think it’s a great concept. Often times I see him cut off his guests and I don’t think that is good practice nor polite. I will still continue to watch the channel, just wanted to share some constructive criticism. The KZbin comments section are meant for discussion.

This was really informative interview; thought Governor represented in best way possible. Thanks very much for the open (and patient :) way in which you shared such personal details about your life - can't be easy. I have to admit, as someone who conducts interviews for a living, loves humanity from one end of the earth to the other; I can relate to Mark's enthusiasm when sitting across from someone you believe has a fascinating and valuable perspective to share and finding you can't help but turning it into a conversation; contributing your own observations and experiences (especially if you have ADD like me and don't want to forget what you want to say 😏). I can tell how much Mark cares; how invested he is in the lives of the people he interviews. I really enjoy learning about people I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to meet! Thanks very much!

I love this channel and appreciate the services it provides, not only for the interviews, but also for the assistance Mark provides SO MANY subject off camera. So, this his the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to say this- but, Mark- damn it my friend, let the man speak! He was scarcely able to get a full comment or answer in without you interrupting and redirected the conversation. We all love your takes on these situations, but on this one occasion, I feel like we missed out on so much of what Gov had to say, because you continually cut him off. Ok, that’s my rant. I’ll be honest, I watch everything you put out except for the “pimp interviews” mostly because I doubt whether they’re genuine or honest or just trying to “hustle” the interview, this one changed my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed it and feel like he was genuine and insightful the whole time. I love that you were very engaged in this interview too. Every now and again, when you and your subject are engaging and just having a conversation on camera, it’s pure gold. Thanks for sharing your passion, it must be heavy, but it’s real, it’s raw. I didn’t grow up in a suburban area, my exposure to real and raw was much more than what I have exposed my daughters to, intentionally sure, but as they’ve gotten older I realize what a blessing it is but that they also don’t know that the things on this channel are very much REAL and RAW…among other things within our surrounding community, I share these stories with them, my reasons vary, compassion, understanding, fear, reality…what if’s, don’t do this, listen to that…and I thank you for that.

One of your best interviews, Mark, and not at all what I expected. I think you unintentionally used the Joe Rogan conversational style. I think this man, G-Gov, would do well owning and managing a legal brothel like the ones in Nevada. Good man, that mark lol. Im glad that you added the little story about helping the 16 year old girl but her giving the money to the pimp. It shares experience with the reality of wanting to help someone, but them not wanting to help themselves. I fought my cousin boyfriend because he choked her, and she was back with him 2 weeks later. How many times has someone given a drug addict money for food, shelter, etc and they blew it on drugs? Such is life. At least you tried. I commend you for that. All we ever really can do is try.

I enjoy how your interviews are a sociological examination, diving into the complexities of marginalized communities in the United States of America. As you mentioned in this interview, the lack of opportunities within certain demographics is such a key part of the choices they are forced to make. It's so hard to break out of these vicious cycles of drug addiction, abuse, prostitution, homelessness, etc. We need to try and introduce more opportunities to provide better options early in life. A young black man shouldn't have to choose between being a "drug dealer, a gang member or a pimp," period. We as a society HAVE to do better. If given more options, perhaps this man would have chosen differently. He is obviously very intelligent and perceptive.

I know there has been comments already about Mark interrupting, but I just wanted to add to that, and emphasise how frustrating it is to be interrupted, and to listen to Mark interrupt this man on multiple occasions, I think it’s completely reasonable to respond to what the man has said, but speaking AFTER he has spoken, not during. You can notice him starting to stutter, and speak quickly which is often a response to someone interrupting them and not properly listening. I think if Mark wants to get his opinions and views out there to be heard, then he should switch it around and ask someone to interview him for one time. I felt sorry for this guy being interviewed, felt like he didn’t really get his chance to speak properly, and couldn’t really focus or zone into what he has saying, because I was on edge thinking when will Mark interrupt next.
