When she said "fourteen", my mouth fell open. She had her first at thirteen, left school at fourth grade, had fourteen children by 5 or 6 different men, has Lupus and regulates the pain with alcohol and Marijuana. Kandee's way of speaking and the tone of her voice are that of a young child not yet ten years old, i.e. very direct and unguarded like an innocent child. I can only wonder that people like her do exist and live in our country. Her body and skin tone do not seem to show the wear and tear of such a hard life/existence. And she appears to have all, if not most of her teeth. When asked "have you ever been in love?", her answer and tone were that of a very old soul. I think she will outlive most of us here in spite of her Lupus and alcohol/Marijuana abuses. The power of being a mother is a most special power. Much love, prayer and admiration for your strength Kandee.

Addiction is caused from Childhood Emotional Neglect and Trauma or both. Gabor Mate talks about addiction a lot he once said its not why the addiction, but why the pain? Whats really hurting us? We must look back to our childhood. What went wrong ? I'm a struggling alcoholic at 36 and trying to stay clean. My childhood there was a lot of mental and physical abuse a lot violence towards my mother and I.I've been searching reading up a lot about addiction as why I am the way I am. Alcohol is not my problem, Alcohol is the symptom of my problem. I'm slowly healing. I pray for this woman she heals too 🙏

yes so true, i noticed most of the people interviewed on here who are struggling with addiction have had some type of abuse in their childhood. Mostly sexual abuse but really just abuse and trauma in general. It really made me start analyzing and trying to identify why I'm like this, why im addicted.. So i have a question now that you came to the conclusion that alcohol is a symptom of the things you went through in your childhood what are your next steps to heal that and stop abusing substance? Asking for advice for myself 😔
@_Stroda2 жыл бұрын
Of course, people with perfectly happy, trauma free upbringings become addicts. I.e. your main claim is nonsense. The sad thing is that this nonsense is widely believed, and baseless beliefs like this get in the way of practical, harm reducing policies.
@robertgreenwood22582 жыл бұрын
@@jasminemania2984 the current mood across the culture is to treat substance use disorders as medical issues like any other thing you see a doctor for and to stop stigmatizing it. For example we used to put people with autism and aspbergers into mental institutions where they were raped by orderlies and they removed their frontal lobes of their brains and electroshocked them. They were treated like lab rats and their parents or spouse left them in those homes for life. Now they run the world. Elon Musk is on the autism aspbergers spectrum and he is the richest person on planet. As we know he made his fortune flying rockets to space and automating driving 🚗. 100 years ago he may have been locked in a sanitarium. But our society started changing their approach to handling them from childhood on. So now they can get jobs and go to school and invent our future for us. We are now at the era where Harm Reduction messaging and practices for outreach workers and those that might need any type of help are gaining traction system-wide. Instead of demonizing them the right thing to do is to teach addicts how to use in a more safe way that helps them to avoid the dangers of substance use. We know now the war on drugs was and is a failure. We can not police our way out of drugs. Prison only makes our society worse when we throw addicts in there. Long term treatment for trauma that is multi-tiered is the key. Having a 3 fold based approach that addresses the Bio-Psycho-Social aspects of a person's life is the human approach to treating substance use disorders. Bio = a doctor looking at physical health of a patient / Psycho - a psychologist to work with mental health and trauma / and Social worker to help look at schooling, finding employment and housing etc. Jail and AA alone do not keep someone from using drugs their whole life. We know that now. In the future there will be long term in patient rehabs and a consuler that coordinates the team of doctors therapists and social workers that will handle a patient. Addiction is a medical issue not a criminal or moral issue. America is still a shitty place to try to get sober. Europe is ahead of the curve.

I share so so many things in common with this lady based purely off information she gave. Went a couple years "doing the best I could" until I figured out that I wasn't doing the best that I could & started going to meetings. Then getting therapy for the reasons I was self medicating. Turned out to not only be *ALOT* less expensive than weed & booze but it also saved my brain (wet brain) my liver (cirrhosis) & my sanity (personality disorders) Maladapted brain patterns formed in childhood from abuse/neglect/abandonment, etc are wretched roadblocks once an adult. It's very difficult to rewire them, it takes concerted effort. Need resources & knowledge. Alcohol is cheap, society accepted, oftentimes you don't realize what's happening until it's too late. @@repetemyname842 i both agree and disagree.. she took the concept of a bandaid baby more serious than anyone i've ever seen. but i will say that not even the majority of the people in these interviews, at least on this channel, are as delusional as this one.. a lot of them are self-aware. this one seems not fully honest.. with herself or with anyone else. she "doesn't know" how many baby daddies she has and the number changes from beginning to end, how many of them were/are gang affiliated, or even how many are dead or alive.. she just makes it up as she goes.

She was very warm and polite when she refused, to me it simply seemed she didn't want it in that moment. I actually read your comment first, before I got to that part so I was kinda looking for that exchange to come up to see how it went down. He offers support throughout by doing these interviews in the first place...by asking and listening...giving feedback & encouragement, at times if appropriate. Offering a tissue when someone starts to cry is just an extension of the compassion for people he holds while listening to them talk about their lives and trying to keep them as comfortable as possible if upset. Don't think he cares either way if someone takes it or not. I didn't notice any hint of negativity or diliberate refusal meant to reject Mark offering support. My guess is it was more done to tell/convince herself that she is ok and not crying enough to need it. She may have needed to do that for herself to keep her composure, for whatever reason.
@marylougeorge98902 жыл бұрын

My first thought seeing that was that maybe she felt she didn’t deserve the gesture, because she hasn’t been treated with trustworthy kindness enough.
