Years ago I had saved for about two years to get a guitar that I really wanted, super high-end. I almost had a panic attack buying it. What was supposed to be one of the best days of my life was anything but. I was second-guessing myself the entire time on the drive to the store and while I was in the store and after I got home I almost didn’t want to touch it initially. I’m glad I got over that and I still have the instrument and I love it and play it all the time, but there was nothing fun about that day.

@@riceflatpicking4954 I can relate ten fold. About a year ago I spent a good chunk on a custom subwoofer box for my car as I am into the car audio hobby. I knew the enclosure would be worth it as well as the craftsmanship....BUT....man was it hard to let go. Always lurking in the back of my head was the thought "should have I spent that much" or "that could've went towards mortgage or an emergency " All in all, I am super happy after all is said and done and do not regret it one bit. Glad your guitar purchase gave you some happiness and enjoyment....that's what it's about, that's what makes it worth it.

I am an engineer in the graphic arts industry. My family has been in the industry for over 100 years. I am competent in all pre production software, and processes, all the way back to handset type, to modern day image setters / plate setters. I can run letterpress, die-cutters and the biggest of multi-color presses, including all of the bindery. It is a VERY intensive trade that requires a very steep knowledge curve. This guy KNOWS his shit, and is very talented. I wish him the best. When he says the quality bothered him, I can understand that, as only somebody in our industry that has an eye for such particulars. I would have loved to see his owrk however. Fascinating how he described he did it.

I was told years ago that British counterfeiters use egg whites on bank notes to give the paper bank note the same texture. Grippy and thicker feel. I find the technical intricacies and know-how really interesting. I knew a U.S. billionaire I met in Lisbon that showed me their US notes and explained they were “cotton based paper”. Britain now has plastic notes which are strange, flimsy and tear easy. Your job is extremely interesting. && skilled. You have a proper job in fact.

@@De5O54 Thanks. US Money would have been very easy for my company to duplicate years ago. But most counterfeiters don't have million dollar presses. It's normally done using crap machines, or by hand as he described. NOW that use money has all kinds of plastic strips, and holograms, etc. "personally" I would say that was near impossible. Listening to this guy, FASTINATING. But knowing his skill in our industry, understanding of design, screens, and then his just plain ingenuity is amazing. As you said, the trickiest part is THE PAPER. It is NOT, paper US money is 75% cotton and 25% linen. AND, it has red and maybe some blue fleck fibers inside of it. On very rare occasions, in my entire career, we printed on paper that was very close to money. (It was very expensive.) Not paper but cotton, etc. and we had to REGISTER to buy it, and account for every single sheet, all waste, disposal, etc. it wasn't exact, but close enough it could have been the basis to counterfeit and fool people. I have traveled the world extensively as both an entertainer and an engineer, but I have not been to Germany since 1986 when I was performing with an 80 piece orchestra from the USA. I remember as a 16 year old boy at the time, I was enthralled by the "McBeer" at McDonalds.

Mind you, you're probably comfy in your présent situation, no need to go risking everything for a get rich quick idea with someone you don't know. My dad was in the printing trade in Montreal QC and once someone printed off a sheet of 20’s, for fun, no one thought anything of it- till the provincial police showed up and started asking questions, I guess all the “scrap” paper would go to a facility to be shredded, and someone must have alerted the police… I think the gentleman in the Interview printing the money on bible paper is Gold 🤣 I wish him well

So fascinating. I was a gambling counselor for 1-800-gambler in CA and we had a guy who had been released after a 6 yr stint for counterfeiting. He was mandated to go to GA meetings after doing a 90 day IOP. HE ABSOLUTELY loved the attention he would get from the whole group when he told his stories. He explained it the same way as this guy does. With the spray can and pressing paper together. The dude I knew was a commercial fisherman and when he would be in the middle of the pacific he would order this specific paper from Germany and have it delivered to random addresses in Hawaii. He would wait outside the address and wait for the delivery. He said the hardest part was laundering it. He sold a bunch to a dude, and that was what ended up getting him caught. He printed over 6million he said.....

I had 2 buddies that got into counterfieting in college and ended up getting busted by the secret service. They were turning 5 dollar bills into 50s. Had the $3k laser printer and the press and everyting. We were all strung out and when that money started coming in it made all our habits way worse. That led to selling a lot of drugs as well. A lot of drug dralers burned with fake money made a lot of enemies and lost friends, with access to that type of power, if you will. My buddies were taking taxis to get around out of paranoia, nd it turned out that some of the taxi drivers who drove them were actually undercover. They werent interested in weed or drugs they wanted the fake money. When i recall that time (10 years ago) its so wild to think that actually happened. Awesome video as usual Mark

I love how at the end when asked if he will ever go back to printing money or if he thinks about it he answered so honestly. "Back there in the fantasy part of my brain you bet, but I would get caught instantly so I can never go back" or however he said it. What a smart dude. Just went the wrong direction in life. Hope he does well.

Jeff I’m surprised we didn’t meet or cross paths. I lived in Pinellas County for 28yrs and lived in New Port Richie for several years. I was all over St. Pete, Clearwater etc….Even went to St. Petersburg Junior College. Now it’s St. Petersburg College. Got my Associates Degree there. It’s good to here your testimony my friend 🙂 I was no Angel myself back then. Pills was my thing, opiates👍😄 I wish you the best my brother in Christ ❤️🙏😊

I love how he said he made a training video for the secret service so they can learn how to stop counterfeiting, but tells us the best ways for the most difficult features, kind of making his techniques open source

I loved this interview! I did very similar with prescription pads back in the day. It was the introduction of the control substance database that ended my run in 2011. And I would definitely buy his book. His story reminds me of one my favorite movies "Catch me if you can " :)

My mom use to forge scripts as well & steal real doctors pads from doctors visits as well back n the day but she changed her life around cause she got caught. I wonder if it was easy then cause of doctors writing on pads & people learned how to write like the doctor.

@@jrtaylor2288 wow! My mom end up going to jail but not for a long stay on a few days cause my mom was also sick and couldn’t walk the day they found her because she had been hiding. I would call my parents functional because nobody would or could ever tell because my dad had a good job kept my mom and me and brother together ect. I just remember all this because I was a kid and never forget the day they came to get her to go to jail🥺it wasn’t my father doing any of the forging stuff he was actually disappointed but when ur back been together for years I guess he stuck beside but just didn’t participate in her wrong doings. I could tell u so many stories she’s told me lol, of how her and her buddies would get away with it. It was that easy huh!
