I was rather pianissimo at the beginning - my microphone wasn't the best back then. However, there are just some parts where the damper pedal would have blurred the harmonies slightly. Christopher Tin's performance is very clean & clear. To make sure this piece didn't sound too homogenous, I did use varying degrees of pedal.

Don't worry - I suspect people will get tired of the techno-crap and skrillex music of today and eventually move towards music that speaks to them more. It happened from the Baroque to the Classical era... I'm sure it's going to do the same soon. Music say - I FRICKIN' LOVE BFG 9000. I listen to that in the car cranked up as I'm going down the highway to help me start the day sometimes. Haven't heard the music of Marc Russo, but I'll check him out. How's the recovery going? I hope all is well with you, with no post-op complications and stuff. So... I've been working on your arrangement and it's so fun. I'm just chipping away at it, breaking it down into chunks, working on it bit by bit. It's hard. It reminds me of when I tried learning the Goldberg Variations, what with the hands crossing over and stuff. Ayylmao that was tough. Your version of this song is really something special. What's next? A chamber music version? Maybe a string quartet? How bout dual pianos... Could you do a vid with the camera zoomed in on your hands? And maybe a little commentary on what you went through with working on this arrangement? You most definitely deserve more views and subscribers. And btw, beautiful piano. Recovery is pretty much over, and I'm back at work... currently working on the Crysis 2 theme, since the 10 year anniversary of Crysis being released is coming up soon. I'll admit, after that I'm not sure. I was going to do a Zelda Medley to celebrate the 20th Anniversary, but it turns out that's next year, not this year. I'm still looking for ideas. I'm slowly beginning to expand my ideas. Eventually, I would like a little mini recording studio with another camera, better microphone etc... Thanks for the kind words. I will admit - I have upgraded since then, and gotten myself a Zoom H5 which is far superior. All the recordings from September 2018 have been with the Zoom H5. Most of it is just budget right now. You can imagine the cost of 2 cameras, an old iPhone and the Zoom H5... plus no ones really making a profit right now because of all the streaming music - which pays pittance to artists compared to the sale of actual MP3 downloads. 😟 Love the nickname, by the way.

interessting. Sogno di Volare really has this "majesty" and it mentally does elevate me on a state of feeling proud for all the achievements of humanity and the civilizations that raised and fell in the course of history.. Still baba yetu has this nice flair, where I feel some kind of hope that humanity can be united peacefully. The volume, kind and amount of instruments increase throughout the piece which I interpret as the incremental progress the human race faced. (I'm not a music expert, but (At the very beginning just very basic, african drum/percussion instrument + voice, then the addition of the chorus, followed by all the wind & string ("advanced") instruments and the solo clarinet (?) that I love. :)) Like I said the volume and intensity at which the singer, chorus & instruments play start quite, get loud, calm down, raise again and finish at a tranquil, low volume where it started (as indecated by the visuals of the video clip). Okay, 'nuff talked, what I wanted to say is: I think Baba Yetu is not so monotonously "embraced" like Sogno di Volare which feels epic 100% of the time; And Sogno di Volare doesn't reflect the primal beginnings of civilization, just its advanced status. :D Good, nooow I'm finished with this comment! ;)

Greetings Mr Cookie... I do like your analogy of the music almost evolving as the human race did in the game, and I agree. As for Sogno, every now and then it's nice to have a piece that's epic all the way through - makes you feel empowered... but you are right - variety is also needed.
