first of all indian army never reached lahore they onlly reached to dograi near BRB canal and burki is like 22 kilometers away from lahore and it was a small town at that time and pakistani armed forces recaptured burki and PAF attacked Pathankot adampur halwara jamnagar airbases and inflicted heavey causaulities on IAF. and on kasur sector pak armed forces reached khem kharan and on kashmir sector they crossed river tavi and they captured chamb and on tharparkar sector pak army captured kishangarh tanot. The objective of Operation gibralter was to capture kashmir but when indian attacked lahore the objectives changed now the objective was to defend whole of pak and pak army achieved that objective and took that war into the indian area hence pak army won that war bcz they were successful in defending pak

1965 war explained ...unbaised Jul 1965 Pak army invaded Kutch desert in Gujarat Indian army sent army from LOC J&K to Kutch to defend the invasion 5th Aug 1965 While Indian Army was still busy defending Kutch, more than 30 thousand Pak army dressed in local Kashmiri attire crossed the LOC and entered J&K Pak army created havoc in J&K and tried to show the world that its India who is troubling the Muslims in Kashmir and that Kashmir people are forced to live within Indian administration 5th Sep 1965 To retaliate the Pak army attacks in J&K, Indian navy attacked the Karachi docks And at the same time IAF Nato aircrafts dodged and damaged the Pak F-86 Sabres aircrafts by a very intelligent strategy. 6th Sep 1965 Ensuring that Pak air force is unable to operate, Indian Army crossed the international border and entered Lahore with a huge tank regiment and attacked Lahore Pak army then retaliated and controlled the situation but in this process, both sides lost lifes heavily 10th Sep 1965 Indian army captured Lahore and hoisted Indian tricolor at Barki, Lahore Police Station 23rd Sep1965 USA and Soviet Russia diplomats agreed for a cease fire with India known as Tashkent peace Agreement and Indian Army released Lahore and stepped back to India 10th Jan 1966 War was officially ended on papers when India signed this treaty of Tashkent peace Agreement. Now tell me who won, If Pakistan won then why Pakistan could not capture J&K? 6th Sep is observed as defense day because of the heroic acts of Pakistan Army to hold Indian Army and as an Indian I also respect this, but this does not means Pakistan won the war In my opinion , Pakistan could not achieve their objective and ended up huge loss of life and property, so Pakistan lost this war, You may continue to observe 6th Sep as defense day to mark respect to your martyrs but dont give wrong info in your history books that you won the war.
