I think Sohyang performs this song, because it conveys the unconditional love of Adonai, which we should all be a conduit of: I believe this song was written to encourage family members to not be so hard on their loved ones and to love them unconditionally. In Korea, many teens commit suicide when they feel they haven't met their parents' expectations. There were also many suicides during the Asian economic crisis of the late 1990s, which required Korea to take an IMF loan. During this crisis, many fathers were laid off but didn't tell their familiies. Instead they went to a park and spent the day there. Many fathers committed suicide at this time.

I totally agree with you. This performance of her is definitely more inclined to the emotional side, I feel like crying every time I listen to it. The saddest thing is that "Breathe" was written and composed for female singer Lee Hi by her friend Jonghyun (member of the very famous Kpop idol group Shinee), who committed suicide on December 2017, which makes the lyrics even more meaningful. The amazing thing is that you literally feel like you're looking at her face through the mask just coz of her voice alone I also love how brittle/fragile she can make her voice sound choke filled with emotion but still remain resonant and solid throughout, technically. While her voice is definitely a gift but the amount of preparation and effort she puts in, in each of her performances is what makes me admire her more. Just looking up her old videos says a lot of how much she has worked on her voice over the years to be the vocal beast she is today Truly an inspiration beyond just her music.

She has 3 different octave’s head-voice which is her singing in a whisper chest-voice where she singing very high notes and holding them for 55 too 60 seconds, then u have her mixed voice which is her talking-voice combination with chest-head voice. Not many people have that, it’s what she was born with . People can’t not teach that

Gary, so true! I always prepare myself to cry each time I hear her. I am not one to often display my emotions, but she does have that ability to connect with something deep inside myself. I am ignorant about the science of singing and appreciate your insight into her skill as an artist. Before listening to her and Dimash I never knew about head-voice and chest-voice. The vote is cast by the studio audience and the celebrity panel. The show is filmed a couple of weeks before airing so it's hard to figure out the identity of the contestants at the live taping. The celebrity panel usually have hard time figuring out the identities. By the time Sohyang defended her crown the 2nd time (6 episodes/weeks), the general public figured out it was her. The show often have singers who are not in the limelight. When Sohyang finally lost her crown, she confessed that she was thinking about quitting singing altogether. A good faction of Koreans did not appreciate her singing at the time.
