You may already know this, but she is also an author of four books and an artist who does exquisite drawings and water colors, a songwriter, a lecturer on music and voice at University, and does the musical arrangement, plus the chorus, orchestra, costumes, and lighting for her stage performances. As GREAT as this performance is, it's only a small sample of what's in the vocal arsenal of the PHENOMENAL So Hyang. Vocal coaches and opera singers agree, her technique is FLAWLESS and EFFORTLESS. Her vocal range is RIDICULOUS and her breath control is INSANE. So Hyang, along with her husband, and music assistants, arrange every aspect of her live performances; music, background singers, staging, etc.

We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself (with the input of her musical assistants), teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese. Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a survivor of uterine cancer from the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in South Korea or Japan. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere! Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on KZbin and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted So Hyang and arranged for her to share eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. @@THEREALONE52 I stumbled over So Hyang doing this very performance two years ago and I knew right then and there that she was easily the greatest singer I had ever heard or seen, or do a live performance. I've been hooked ever since. I literally listen to her every day. And I just had to know more about her. So what I was able to learn I put into this mini-biography. @@THEREALONE52 PS So Hyang is entirely a self taught singer. She would listen to Mariah Carey's "Music Box" album and sing along when she was a kid. Then she moved on to Whitney and Celine. She has only ever had two formal singing lessons that anyone knows of. They were just short instructional sessions with Seth Riggs while she was on holiday in the US about 2010 or so, where he taught her how to hit a note instantly and with precision. Anyway, I've never seen her like before.
