A ton of information without a word wasted. Great instructional vid, thanks! In reply to a few of the comments below, soil cement is mature technology. Likely as not you drive on it every day, since it's the underlayment for roads in many locations/

Thanks for the video. I was trying to figure out the mix ratio. I could not see the weight of the sack of cement so am still trying to figure out the final mix ratio you used. Thanks for making a good clear video. The audio was perfect for listening.

Imagine how much money you could save by just using this mixture to make an entire house! You should try making soil cement pillars and poles! It's tricky, but fun once perfected! =D

It's correct ?? becaused I heard you not clear !+1 water and mixed together and then leave with in 24 hrs. then return back side and leave again untill a week can install ?? Thanks so much in avance , Pls be good take care and high hope to hearing from you soon

You actually only need around 15% cement if you use the rammed earth technique and compressed the bricks.
@jesse9775 жыл бұрын
Wow these look great!!! I checked on youtube and most diy pavers look like crap. Did you use anything to vibrate them to remove air bubbles?
@victorgalvez9278 жыл бұрын
how solid are the pavements? i mean its a huge improvement due to small amount of cement used, but are they sturdy? maybe a small litle video to show it would be very ilustrative. many thanks!!!

Did you see the bamboo in the background? Country without frosts - you can add clay. In Canada, the mixture should be free of clay.
@carolburnett83729 жыл бұрын
wow, these look smoother than the other people on u-tube usually....
@stoobers19 жыл бұрын
Carol Burnett These aren't compressed. This is more like cement that is "diluted" with dirt. They also use a lot of water. You may be thinking of cement stabilized earth blocks (or compressed earth blocks - ceb's). The advantage of the ceb is that it is made on site, requires very little water, very little cement and is a direct replacement for a conventional clay fired brick. The advantage of these pavers is they are smooth and stretch out your cement budget, provided you have a lot of water and do not need the strength of a conventional brick. it is sort of like man-made caliche.

This would work *great* with our "soil" that is very sandy, and cheaper than using (*old*, so any salt in it gets washed out) play sand from our sandbox! Questions: What kind of cement is it, Portland (type 1 or 2?), Quikrete, etc? Why isn't chicken wire or something like that being used to reinforce the pavers? This less than a 2 (aggregate) :1(cement) ratio? BTW, very impressive! :-)

How thin can these pavers be made, not to crack? Is this recipe suitable for a kitchen floor?
@levibarros14910 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't make these any thinner than 2 inches.

@vstarcruiser71417 жыл бұрын
since this is like an "Adobe Brick Process" wouldnt straw help in the batch to prevent cracking as they dry out over Time? Just a thought maybe even mesh wire on the bottom not much added cost.

@stoobers19 жыл бұрын
gayan krishantha add more cement. instead of 3 dirt buckets, 2 sand buckets and 1/2 bag, add 3 dirt, 2 sand and 1 bag cement. You only need to make it "strong enough", so figure out what that is, then add cement until your test tiles reach this point.
@gayankrishantha72309 жыл бұрын
Christopher Whitestone thank you christopher
@stoobers18 жыл бұрын
+gayan krishantha Here is a cheap way to make it stronger: Leave most of the water out. The addition of all the water makes this paver so it can't be compressed. If you try to compress the mixture, the mixture will squish away. So to make the paver stronger, cut out most of the water so the mixture is just barely damp, then pack the mixture into the frame. The compression will make it much stronger.

Realistically, buying pavers at $2.88 a foot is probably a better idea. Less hassle, better quality, more design options, carries an actual durability rating and you probably dont save much after making those forms and striker, the oil, the raw materials and a cement mixer

but how much is the compressive strength of this tile??
@ryannelson45503 жыл бұрын
Generally between 300 and 800 PSI depending on the soil mixture. Not nearly the compressive strength of concrete, but plenty for things like floors and even driveways. Here is the holy grail of Soil Cement info: www.cement.org/docs/default-source/th-paving-pdfs/soil_cement/eb003.pdf?sfvrsn=2#:~:text=Depending%20on%20the%20soil%20material,(2%20and%206%20MPa).
