Absolutely 100% yes he can be regenerative farming with a low bricks reading. Because you have to start somewhere. He still might have what you would consider an unhealthy plant but maybe he has drastically reduced tillage and erosion and water runoff and he has increased infiltration and he has increased diversity and he has decreased the use of herbicides and some commercial fertilizer.

This recent soil works interview seemed like real good info regarding plant sap brix. However farmer needs to know specifications for specific crop. And possibly more info helpful too. I Put it this way..... I have dug my refractometer out of the closet for more evaluation. Dennis

It would be nice to know some susatainable practices to raise the microbe/carbon levels. When i ay sustainable, i mean a closed system where you dont have to buy some manufactured product to amend soil with. Personally, continuously work in rabbit manure, wood ash, and compost. Havent measured brix levels ever but id like to know if this is the means to the end youre referring to. Gotta be a closed, natural, sustainable system bc otherwise, how did we get here. Manufactured soil amendments havent been aeound that long.

i would make an argument to say that once a threshold is reached for providing for the growth of the plant and exudates, that excess sugars then can get dedicated to being metabolized to create immune system properties. the previous episode on this topic suggested 10 for disease resistance and 14 for pest resistance... perhaps thats an overly rigid benchmark that isnt plant species specific, however the general thesis of excess sugars past a threshhold being dedicated to immunity rather than survival or growth, the difference between surviving and thriving... makes sense to me.
@gsmscrazycanuck98143 ай бұрын
I have always used 5 as the disease threshold, 10 for food value and 12-14 for pests. That being said, if you have a crop at 10 and plants in the crop at a lower Brix, the insects will attack the low Brix plants first. This is what I have observed.

Does using compost, teas, and extracts help improve the soil to increase potential brix levels in the plants. You mention carbon, does adding composted materials help increase the carbon level enough to increase potential brix levels. What other practices help in this? What do I have to do to increase the brix levels?
@ssippiman3 ай бұрын
Look up “rooted leaf agritech” or “Eden blue gold” “advancing eco ag” these companies have forms of reduced carbon in SOLUTION. In the forms of organic acids, which plants can take in MASSIVE amounts. Foliar or in the root zone. This will actually force feed your plants soluble REDUCED carbon chelated/complexed to your minerals

Watching from Philippines, it is said that you must have a complete minerals for plant to achieve photosynthesis not only from sun.

So if I see one class of insects, I can roughly tell what my brix levels are. For example, some of my red hull peas have aphids on some of the tips, so that lower level. Some squash vines have squash bugs but no aphids, so the brix are a little higher. I do have a brix meter, but on some plants I couldn’t get enough juice to put on it. I have done one round of calcium and already notice a little difference from my yard to the neighbors during a long dry spell. It seems like the insect can at least clue me in on some of my brix levels.

How are the brix levels maintained at transplanting? Particularly, that activity being the most vulnerable period. I am thinking because of the transplant stress the brix would be low.

@thegreenerthemeaner4 ай бұрын
Compost, big maybe. You would need to test it. Lime and Worm casting, likely not. Sugar is formed from a Chemical process in about every plant. What you listed isn't living.
