Clean hits are not determined by a box (like on Baiken's face in your example), but rather a distance check between the origin points of the two characters. There is no literal clean hit box, that's just a term used to help talk about it. Here's the explanation from the Dustloop Wiki: This "box" is actually just a distance/height check relative to both characters' origin point-the exact center of their collision box, aligned along the bottom edge. The size and offset of this box is different per move, but the offset from the opponent's origin point is always 170 pixels above their origin point. For sidewinder it's 227 pixels above Sol's origin point, with 155 pixels in width, and 42 pixels in height. Every time a clean hit is performed within a combo, the height and width of the Clean Hit Box shrinks by 5 pixels-down to a minimum of 1 pixel. Contrary to conventional knowledge, characters do not have unique Clean Hit Boxes. It simply feels like they do because hitstun sprites are not consistently placed relative to their origin point. I swear the replay feature in Guilty Gear XX AC is probably the most genius learning tool in any fighting game ever yet only this game had it for the longest time until very recently with T8. I feel like instead of simplifying or removing mechanics/moves fighting games should strive to learn newcomers how to deal with opponents and fix their mistakes in battle so they can get better quickly.

Replay takeover is one of the best mechanics in any fighting game. I hope they put it in xrd also. But actual flaw with this mechanics it sometimes won't work with some approaches. Example i fought kesuke and other testament as a may main. I felt so much disappointed when i literally run towards and punch them four times in row to get instant kill immediately because during match some amount of shenanigans back in my head.

Only issue with me is if you take over near the end of a match it will still end when it's supposed to and cut you off from experimenting further
