Sol Sanctum 3D (Golden Sun fan remake)

A personal project I've been working on in Unity, as practice in stylization. This is an area from the beginning of the first Golden Sun game, reimagined in 3D in Unity, with the idea that it would need to run on the Nintendo Switch.
I tried to keep the feel of the original, not necessarilly trying to make it an HD2D remake, but I couldn't resist including a little Isaac ^^

This looks amazing! I'm also using Golden Sun to improve my own skills. However, I'm on the code side. I am currently making progress on the dialogue system, and while it technically works, I've had to disassemble it to redo and improve the user experience, since I intend it to be a general system usable for other games. So at the moment, it might be broken.. And I'm also using Unity!

It was done very well, meeting my previous 3D vision of the golden sun. But your current style, I hope you can make it into a full 3D model style. After all, it is the golden sun, the role is 2D, the background is 3D, and it feels a little contradictory

Just want a sequel to Golden Sun to looks just like that! They should only make a new adventure just after the end of The Lost Age, with the same heroes and same engine. Then add some new attacks, summons, actions, psynergies, secondary characters, djinnis (maybe some new elements, like light and dark), new villains and put Alex as the final boss, because even now after 20 years, I still want to kick his butt xD

Well, it both is and isn't. The 2D Isaac was a bit of an afterthought. Ideally I'd like a full 3D remake.

Playing FFXIV and I finally got a " Large Plot ", I hope I can house Decorate it making it " Lemurian themed ". Getting the Plot was hard after a long year trying... But seeing videos like these always rekindles how much I was in-love with story and world of Golden Sun

Thanks :D Since the game originally used a lot of pre-rendered 3D for sprites I'm kind of hoping they'd use actual 3D models for characters and ennemies, unlike in this, though. Would feel more like the complete package.

Reminds me of the style Square used with Octopath Traveller. I would happily get behind a remake like that, if they drop the silent protagonist and add some better dialogue, I loved the world and gameplay but narratively the games were pretty hollow.

I could imagine this is in an almost links awakening style but less cutesy to better reflect the intended atmosphere. Or maybe something to try and reflect the original concept art like Ocarina of Time 3D.

I’m in the process of doing this myself and I am going to see it through no matter what. I’ve already started on designing some of the models map layouts on a 1:1 ratio for vale. One question do you have anything showcasing the model you made for issac? I’ve made a few but they don’t have the same gba feel to them like yours does any input would be helpful thank you

It's litterally just the sprite with the same inclination as the camera and a basic movement script. Also found a few tutorials to have it be lit and casting a shadow. I considered making a 3d model but I'm less experienced with characters.

I mostly just tinkered with the angle manually on both the camera and the sprite until I got something I was pleased with. There's technically no billboard.

I don't have the time or abilities to make a full game like this. Notice how there's no battles or psynergy, how Isaac is only able to run and how the only interaction is the door opening. This wasn't a waste of talent, no creation of any kind is a waste of talent. It was practice. And basically just fan art, to show love to the series on my own limited scale.
