I was 24 when that record dropped and two or three songs i downloaded, this was one of them. When i first listened to it, she was channelling Brandy with the runs, Janet Jackson with soft cooing. Although I found out she was talking about her ex-husband Alan Ferguson prior to their seperation, she was begging him to be more intimate in the relationship. Five years later, I still meditate on this song. It's contemplative, tranquil and at the same time, inviting.

This is so beautifully constructed that I don’t even know where to start. The guitar riff (or maybe it’s synths) is reminiscent of a Eric Clapton song, they also remind of ye’s production in early work, like 808’s & heartbreak or maybe Yeezus w/ a sprinkle of Rick Rubin’s guidance. Her lyrics are so straight forward and heart felt, that melodically all together it sort of sounds like a Michael McDonald song. The production along w/ her vocal delivery are so harmoniously in sync that the whole thing reminds of a body of water, waving back and forth, endlessly and effortlessly conversing. She created the perfect serenade.
