SOLAR 175W Mexican Mercury Vapor BT28 bulb!

Hello to everyone in the world!
Today we took a closer look to my old SOLAR 175W Mercury Vapor lamp!
SOLAR was a mexican brand before other companies arrived to the country in the 1990s with the NAFTA and destroyed little goverment-helped brands like SOLAR was!
It was probably based on Sylvania-made bulbs, but anyway, as you can see it's a very good product! Color reproduction is awesome for a not-so-thick phosphor coating and it puts out an amazing output of light!

A very nice lamp! I like to collect different mercury vapor lamps from other countries. I do not have any from Mexico even though I live close. I can check with my friend in Cuahtemoc to see if he can find one for me. Thank you again for demonstrating your very nice lamp.

Vivo en Monterrey ahora, desde hace algún tiempo en la ubicación indicada en el empaque había una fábirca de GE lighting, ahora ha cerrado y el lugar lo venden.

Uy, que tristeza. Toda esa pequeña industria eléctrica nacional ha ido desapareciendo con la entrada al mercado de mercancías extranjeras durante los años noventa... Claro que mucho del material nacional no era de la mejor calidad, pero creo que era superior a los artículos chinos de hoy día...

Yes! It is actually standard for BT-28 bulbs! Compared with a 400W or 1000W bulbs, this ones are actually little!

It is also good to know that this lamp has an E40 base rather than the E39 base that is typically used with most North American HID lamps because it is slightly longer than typical North American E39 bases. Seeing E40 bases on these North American lamps is definite evidence that some Latin American countries have a tendency to mix European lighting with North American lighting. I am really interested in trying to know why Mexico uses both North American and European lighting at the same time.
