the most importent and crazy thing is, that it's without any 3rd party plugins, I mean this just shows that after effects has far more possibilities than we ever have thought and Andrew just shows one of the crazy things you can do with after effects for free! thats freaking amazing and I thank you so much

I was having trouble with the glow placement. I managed to get the glow behind the sun to work but then the one in front would still stay behind. I decided to start over and since Im using this for a "whole sun" (not just the top half) I didnt "zoom in" with the camera. I dunno how you pulled the sun down when you zoomed in but that seems to be the issue. I know you right click to zoom in, but when you pulled the image down it appears after effects acts a little funny with the extra glows.

Try seeing if your layers are in the proper order, specifically, where is the Adjustment Layer? I'm a noob at After Effects as well, but try to see if that works because it works in Photoshop.

I just started this tutorial and Im having the exact same problem. Its like it disappears when its at different angles. Fuck you after effects!
@fruce81194 жыл бұрын
I had the same exact problem. What i did is created a new layer called inner glow like the other glows and did the same exact process but this time on top of the star map layer...
@AlfnCrafts3 жыл бұрын
Hey, i was having same problem here today, i place the duplicated nº3 glow on top of star map but nothing happened... still looking like it was in the botton with the others, what i did was, i turn the 3d layer option off than on again and it worked, it show up just like in the video, i had to reposition a bit, but it worked. i hope it works for you.

Great tutorial. I've been wanting to add more organic effects to my AE jobs, and I can see fractal noise is going to be a big player. Thanks for the insight. Love the quality of your work, your tutorials, and your humor. Best AE series on KZbin!

After the Turbulent Displace on the Sun Comp, while he talked about his Heat Plugin, I added this which looked somewhat similar. --> 1. New Solid (white), pre-compose (named Steam), leave this comp above Sun. 2. Open new comp, Fractal Noise on the white solid. 3. Fractal Settings - Small Bumps, check 'Invert', contrast = 130, brightness = 1, evolve 'time*200' and animate sub offset upwards as Andrew did earlier. 4. Back in main comp, create new Adjustment layer and put it below Steam comp (but above Sun Comp), set TrkMat to " Luma Inverted Matte "Steam"". 5. Effects> Fastblur 120 on Adjustment layer. This added a bit of a Steamy surface/heatblur effect, looks great on mine.

To get some cool flares, incorporate the 3D light rays tutorial with a null in the centre of the sun and a radial blur coming from it, and drop a curves adjustment on it with heavy contrast so the rays only emit from the really bright areas.

For those who can't find the Fast Blur option, I found this helpful hint posted Feb 16, 2017: *"Fast Blur is the same blur algorithm as Box Blur, with the Iterations parameter set to 3. Absolutely no difference. Same for the Gaussian Blur (Legacy) effect; the only difference between it and Fast Blur was the Repeat Edge Pixels parameter.* *The new GPU-accelerated Gaussian Blur uses a different blur algorithm. The same one that Premiere Pro offers under the name "Gaussian Blur". The rendered results will look different compared to the Gaussian Blur (Legacy) effect.* *So although Fast Blur and Gaussian Blur (Legacy) were moved to the obsolete folder, you can still use them but you can get the same results with the Box Blur filter with the Iterations parameter set to 3. We're investigating ways to make this more obvious, and "faster". "*
@DigitalInertia7 жыл бұрын
that was my question! Thanks!
@BuddyandCharlie7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome You can also find the actual "Fast Blur" in the 'Effects and Presets' panel under the 'Obsolete' drop down for now, but who knows if Adobe will keep it.

At 14:46-ish you were talking about animating the fractal noise upwards and you said you could keyframe it. But then you deleted the keyframes and did SOMETHING, then said the other thing I did was turbulant displace. Something in there got cutout that explains how you got the noise to move upwards without keyframing. Would love to know what that was/is.
