Absolutely great item. Getting about a hour of light after one minute of cranking and not to depend on batteries (hopefully never again) is amazing. Thanks for info.

Thanks for this. I love the concept of these...totally off grid use perfect for emergencies when you may not be able to replace batteries. A few years ago I was walking deep in a lava tube in Oregon, (about a mile in), I had 2 light sources and the batteries were draining. I thought they were full, they weren't. It was 100% pitch black and if the batteries had drained completely I would have been in trouble. It's not that that was a common situation to be in, but the point is if I'd had one of these flashlights it wouldn't have been an issue.

I have the same identical light under the ThorFire name. Paid 16 dollars and some change for it on amazon. Good amount of light and a great amount of duration for just one minute of cranking time. Use mine not just for emergencys but as a regular flashlight around the the house. With the ridiculous price of name brand batteries these days - this light has already paid for itself at my house. Love it!

I have an American Red Cross crank only flashlight that's been a drawer for months. Can't tell you the last time I cranked to charge it. Your video reminded me of it. Pulled it out and turned it on. Been running for 5 minutes now without cranking. I don't know if it's waterproof, I think it is either on or off, no special modes. It does have a usb charger...not for the light but for charging phones, etc. FYI...it's still putting out plenty of light for an emergency after 10 minutes now.

Turned off the stop watch. Been about 25 minutes now and still putting out very usable light. 2 pack on Amazon for less than $25. Think I'm going to buy a couple more. Thanks for reminding about the gem I already own. :). Thanks for the videos.

For the price, I don't really see a problem if you need multiple copies. However, I would never abandon my Eton Scorpion II. USB charger (a bit time-consuming, yes, but it works). AM/FM/Weather Band, crank/solar. Also, VERY durable and attached carabiner. Price break is an issue, though, as it's ~3x the price of the USD market of this Secur product. If you only need one, I would go with Eton.

These would make great 'top of the tent' or hammock tarp ridgeline type flashlight for late evening /night activities where you don't want to blast your eyes out with a super bright led. Will buy a few for car, camp, gogo bags, etc

first of all, thank you for the review because there aren't many on these kinds of flash light. It would have been nice if you turned the flash light on and off and used the crank under water because obviously those are the weakest points. As far as the lighting option I would rather not have them. The reason for that has to do with being able to quickly turn the light off if I were to be trying to hide. If the light doesn't give me away I am sure the clicking will. You can do SOS with your hand by simply putting it up to the light or by clicking it off and on. The flash light is too bulky. I have seen lights of the same size with emergency radios. Probably on of the best compact lights you can get are the energizer crank light with clip. They are around 15$. You should do a review. I think the size of that flash light is the deal breaker for me as far as putting it in my Bob. However, I really like that it is waterproof and would consider taking it in my canoe. But, then, probably not because it does not provide enough lighting and that is needed on water especially. Anyway, thanks again.

What many don't know is they do have a lifetime. Had a different brand crank light in the survival kit for two years and it just did not charge anymore.

I recently bought an expensive Lantern with pretty much the same concept. The thing missing is a regular charger. If you have power and want to charge it, why not utilize it. At least mine has a connector but it doesn't say at all what kind of charger so I too can either use solar or Crank. I think they should always include a micro USB Charging port. I'll gladly pay the ffew extra bucks. Great video btw.

I heard that some of these cranking flashlights have a capacitor and not a battery. I think that is great because even the lithium batteries wears out after a while. If someone can explain if it’s better to have a capacitor instead of batteries ?

The internal battery (3.6v rechargeable lithium) has a 2-4 year life, whether you use it or not. This same battery is used in most if not all hand crank flashlights. This battery is not cheap the last time I checked (around $16). So the question should be, can the flash light be disassembled in order to replace the battery? Probably not this model because of the waterproof seal during construction.

Damn I expected more from 29.99 flashlight, solar panel is unnecessary, it could break and all that matters is the hand crank and the power output, I'd spend another $20 bucks if it was like 50 or at least 100 lumen, but even then I'd be willing to pay more, but I wouldn't trust such a low powered flashlight like this to see in the dark whether it's in the woods or just for a walk

8 lumens is plenty bright enough to read at night, and to see 10-20 feet in front of you. You could read with 3 lumens, but not so good when walking in a forest. I read the instructions to my emergency radio in the dead of night in pouring rain with a 3 lumen red key chain light. That was so I could turn on it's larger light. The battery still had the plastic wrap on it (duh). It depends on your eyesight in low light. Hope this helps.

***** The reason i need a brighter light is because my vision is poor, so hence, the more brighter the light, the more visibility i achieve. Don't get me wrong, it's great for indoor use. Especially when you wake up in the middle of the night and need to go to the restroom, I always use the 0.6 or so lumen on my t10, doesn't blind me any more.
