FYI, the YM2017 entries were judged by a handful of people on a scale from 1-3, 3 being the best. Scores were then averaged and we took the highest scores. This track was the only track to receive a 3 across the board, earning it the "judges choice" award, which means nothing other than it's an absolutely incredible song!

Every time Savaged Regime uploads a new track an SPC-700 jumps off a roof
@HaveYouTriedGuillotines7 жыл бұрын
The SPC-700 still has it's own strengths. Check this Shovel Knight arrangement out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6LKXpKDgdh5qK8 I would like to see Savaged Regime do some Genesis arrangements of Jake Kaufman tunes, though.
@MegaDriveProfile7 жыл бұрын
That is a very good cover, thanks for sharing! I should've probably mentioned that my comment is a joke, no hate towards the SPC. One of my favorite SNES OST's is Accel Brid and Yu Yu Hakusho 2, been trying to look for more stuff like that. Orchestra arrangements is something the SNES has down pack, while the MD does have some its certainly not its biggest sale. Though I guess in the right hands anything is possible and that goes for both chips. I really want to hear some cool techno like this on SNES so if you or anybody reading this knows, share some tracks!
@MegaDriveProfile7 жыл бұрын
Also, SR did do SPC covers of Thunder Force & Comix Zone, which sound pretty good in their own right!
@HaveYouTriedGuillotines7 жыл бұрын
I actually don't know of too much techno like stuff on the SNES, or soundtracks like Yu Yu Hakisho 2's... Maybe I should start playing around with C700 again, the main catch is I'm not really sure how to create my own SNES authentic samples, and I'd have to if I wanted to make things that sounded suitably 90s rave-ish. There *is* this, but unfortunately it's a one shot and the other tracks aren't like it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZaZeZpjm6uWa6M Still, leave it up to Tim and Geoff Folin to make something on the SNES that sounds like it could be part of a late 90s Big Beat album from a group like like Cirrus or Overseer. Oh, and also, Super Aleste's OST is almost Streets of Rage tier. Just have a listen to this Playlist: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eF6WdnpjbJVofbM I'm honestly not sure why more artists didn't try to make stuff that INTENTIONALLY sounded like it came off old rave samplers, to try and exploit the underground popularity of the early 90s dance scene, but there's not much like it.
@yohkom.79887 жыл бұрын
+Mega Drive Profile "I should've probably mentioned that my comment is a joke" No, you should not have, this would have ruined the joke, which was really good! :D And agree that both systems have great (and vastly different) sound chips, but I just love the Mega Drive more ;3

Mainly it's fuzzier because it has more headroom than usual (could probably have mixed it a bit louder, but it's complicated due to how some technical tricks directly correlate to their volume), and will be closer to the noise floor through the hardware DAC. It was made in Deflemask.
