In Uk, the screws have far larger head 6mm screw with auger bit and 16mm head. We don't mastic but good idea. Yes, we cut tiles well done a good job. Time-consuming. Plus we have 2-3mm gap bottonm of bracket to tile.

My Monier concrete tiles look similar in NorCal. Should only stand on the ends of the tiles to avoid cracking them, though this guy is slimmer than me. My tiles are hung on wood battens w/ no nails, so easy to slide out. Tar-paper isn't right (meant for hot-mopped asphalt) though CA codes still require/suggest it under tiles. Water gets under the tiles from wind and capillary action, then pools on the wood battens (or tiles) to destroy the tar-paper and rot the battens. I had to re-do my fairly-new roof since multiple leaks in all sections. I used better polymer underlayment and stand-off redwood battens from Boral which allow drainage and airflow under them. Good that you seal all penetrations thru the tar-paper. Many youtubes show no sealing of the cable penetrations, so no wonder many solar panel installs soon experience leaks which can destroy a home. Best to also dab silicone sealant in the nail holes, to gain another 1" of effective overlap.

we had a tile cement roof and are on a budjet and to save money on mounting brackets we just had small mount brackets on the solars and just drilled through the tile put bolt through and siliconed the bolt on inside of roof so no leaking and drilled a hole in tile and just put the solar wire through the hole and siliconed it in done in no time

Thanks for the video. I'm hoping to install an off grid system to my house. I told them where to go with their smart meters, consequently I can not hook up a solar system to the grid because of it. I have so many questions. But first, what is your safety rope secured to on that roof?

I have a very secure and tight rope all along the peak of the top of my roof. Then my safety line slides across that rope as needed. The length of safety line attached to me is adjustable, depending on where I am on the roof. In this video, there is another Lowe section of roof behind me.

In California, do they inspect every step? Or one inspection after the install is complete? Do they count the railing system anchors and check if you flashed correctly? About to start my DIY, but permitting is taking forever. I might start my anchors soon.

Why are you putting the racks horizonal when the ones in the background are vertical? If this is for alignment, doesn't the vertical slots allow adjustment for accurate horizonal mounting?

Depending on how your roof space is, it is OK to mix and match panel placement. It may only matter aesthetically. Thanks for the comment

Not in my case. The inspector didn't care who installed everything, they just inspect for things being done correctly.
