Solar panel and kayak long range test

Hey guys, I attached a solar panel to my kayak to test out how far I could go with PacMotor. I had a bit of trouble with the solar control module and had to cut the test short, I will run it again in the near future.

Good test - if only to see how you improvise to sort critical problems “in the wild blue yonder” with nothing but a packet of gum and a credos bag! In all seriousness - I am hoping your experiments will get you thinking ready for a Mark 2 battery which has the solar charger either incorporated, or at least a waterproof connector which enables charging the battery at the same time as current is being drawn by the motor, as can be done on my ePropulsion Spirit. You’ve designed a cracking motor package for small craft, BUT the ability to add solar to a single battery while also using it would be a game changer.

Yes, you have the right ideas! The plan is we are going to catch up on all the orders then build the kit for solar charger that can be connected as your are operating. Thanks for your feedback

Nice test, curios what data you can provide from the test. For example …. Total distance traveled, total duration of the trip, size of the solar charger, and how many amp hours is your 12v lithium batteries.

Hey, so I planned to get this data but I ran into issues with the solar panel charger. I am going to rerun the test so I can accurately calculate the distance. I will answer those questions in the next attempt. Hopefully in a weekend or two

Hey, yep I see your order and I have an update from the factory. They will be finished very soon! Nov 20th. I know it will be worth the wait! The improvements are great and the motor is like none other available.

Did you use Google Maps measuring tool or a GPS to track your miles during this test? What was the total miles traveled? Fantastic test & I'll be buying one

Hello, Yep i did but I had to cut the challange short that day because of me dropping the solar panel changer in the water. I plan on running the test again and shooting for 15-20 miles or more

I’m curious how long it took you to go as far as you did, against the current or not? It looked like you had multiple batteries did you switch out on the trip or was it just one the entire time on the solar charger? I live over on Pine island and I’m really wanting to try this thing out and go out to Cayo costa from tarpon lodge and see if I can do it in the morning fish for four hours while it’s on charge and come home.

That would be super cool! I bet your can do it. I would have to measure the miles. On this test I just used one battery as I had to cut the test short because of me getting the solar charger wet. I plan on running the test again and going for max distance!

Wow how do you get two batteries I ordered mine a year and a half ago and after a year all they finally sent me just the motor and said yeah we'll send you the battery eventually
