At 1:58 - the designers realized their big "oops" of putting the props at the wingtips. One landing in a stiff crosswind would wipe out a propeller possibly cause other damage. They wisely abandoned that configuration.

2:00 The Alice, with engines mounted on the wing tips it doesn’t look like it’s got enough rudder for control with one of them failed. Maybe the centre engine has enough power that it can fly quite ok on just it. I’m sure they know what they are doing.

But hey, the E 430 was the first ever certfied electric UL in the world.. I flew the testflights for Yuneec E430.. would not recommend it for beginner pilots..hahhhhaaa... also V600, I made the roll tests and one single "jump" in the air, but no other plae was that much scary, The development was stopped.

Trivia question: 2 pics from WWI. The first is a scene from air ops of the Allied side, most likely French or British. The second is the most recognizable aircraft of the era: the Fokker D-VII, known best as 'the Fokker triplane' for it's three main wings. It was the craft of the German ace, leading ace of the war, Baron Manfred von Richtofen: "The Red Baron" because his craft was all red. The first pic may have been a Sopwith Camel, the plane most commonly credited with shooting down the Baron, as piloted by Canadian Lt Roy Brown, but more recent forensic examinations lend more credence to the claim of a ground gunnery battery as the actual firepower responsible for taking down the Baron.

I get I’m not up on the technology, and this may be the future... but as batteries age they decline. So they all will have shorter flight times, and one that lasts an hour will start getting seriously shorter. I have this image of saying Honey, I’m flying to Vegas, fly an hour, landing somewhere and begging someone to let me charge, then 3 hours later taking off to repeat the process. By the time I get to Vegas 18 hours later I find a note from the wife and kids “Sorry we missed you, see you at Home!”
@midgetman42063 жыл бұрын
You would be going against electric's strengths. I don't think that long range should be their goal anytime soon (if ever), what these are going to be great for is cheap short range. If you want to reach hundreds of miles, ICEs will probably always remain king.
@LaineyBug20204 жыл бұрын
It would be cool to have a solar plane (the kind that could fly 24hrs) that had vertical lift/landing, and when grounded you could rotate the wings back for better maneuverability & storage. Maybe even water landing options..

The trivia question, would appear to be two photos taken from different times in WW1. In both photos, the unit insignia on the side of the fuselage between the cockpit and the empennage, has been blurred - probably to make working out where and when the photo was taken harder. In the first photo, the uniforms place the men as being Imperial German Army Air Service. The man standing on the ground in the middle of the photo, in front of the cockpit of what appears to be an Albatros D.2 , is consistent in height and facial features, as being Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen - aka " The Red Baron". This would place the unit as being probably either Jagdstaffel 2, Oswald Boelke's original unit from 1916 that Manfred was a pilot in, or Jagstaffel 11 which he commanded as squadron leader in 1917. Jagdgeschwader 1, the wing he later commanded, had different model Albatros aircraft, which you can pick from fuselage and wing shape, and Halberstadt D.II's. The second photo is an early model Fokker Dr.1 Triplane, produced from August 1917. While Manfred is popularly associated with this type of plane, he only got 17 out of his 80 victories in it. The early one was found to have a weakness when thrown around in violent aerobatic maneuvers. As a result, it had to have stronger wings . Manfred would only fly the triplane exclusively, when the later model with stronger wings came out in November 1917

Being electric eliminates many risk factors. A combination of electric solar and glider could be a very good option for future private transport. But still a lot depends on developments in light weight quick charge cells,, yet to come. Nobody trying electric helicopters, or VTOL.

I have an interest in solar powered flight, the Sunseker Duo is the aircraft that catches my attention Electric propelled transportation is inevitable. There will be advancements in battery capacity, advancements in electric motors, and what I hope the development of a very small reactor that can fit in a car. In theory unless the driver really pushes the car, it would be unlikely for the batteries to run dry for the typical passenger vehicle.

Electric aircraft as a concept is still decades behind tangible practicality. It is a complete myth that battery powered flight is more economical. It certainly is not, when you add together the extremely high cost of batteries, the fact that they decline in power over time, the manufacturing processes, the mining of expensive and hazardous materials for the batteries, the extremely poor power output, the battery replacement costs and numerous other negatives. There is also a weight limit, hence nearly all the aircraft shown are not viable carriers further than a tiny range. It also happens that far from being "attractive", nearly all of these machines are unbelievable ugly!

i believe that in the future airplanes will have electric motors to lift them in flight like a drone before being powered by conventional engines during flight. these motors will only be used for take offs and landings though....
@rowgler14 жыл бұрын
Thats a great idea, but I think you have it backward. If Hybrid planes used petrol based fuels in designated engines to get them off the ground, they could switch over to electric once they got to cruising altitude. Solar cells on the wings could charge lightweight batteries when parked, then drive electric props in flight. They could have smaller fuel tanks and use the energy more efficiently.

May I suggest this minds eye design? In the trivia question(s) such as the 6:30 part in m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6uXo4Cnbt6nbbs I was thinking that in the next video that you would mention those who commented both right and wrong answers to the trivia, but if the list of answers/comment-ers are too long to mention all of them, make a video or new KZbin channel for only to show who out of those who answered the trivia was right and who was wrong and make an app or social media account/server that shows us commented KZbinrs who is in the leaderboard. If you have any questions about what I am trying to explain, I can either screen shot this comment and send it to your outlook account so you can reply or just reply to this comment.
