I make a similar lock but I believe it's less complicated and stronger. Actually I have modified my original design so now it's even easier. This is for big lures such as a 18 cm stick bait. I make a an eye on either end of the wire using several barrel twists. I the make a locking pin by doubling a length of wire so that it's just 2 or 3 mm shorter than the width of the lure. Then carefully measure and make a small hole big enough for the pin. Then I lock the the eye in place with the pin and glue it with quick setting epoxy. I leave the legs of the pin open a bit and put it in the locking hole bend first so the pressure from the open legs keeps it in place. I've modified this system with a paper clip shape instead of two eyes because there's no way it's going to pull apart with inside the epoxy that is pinned laterally through the body. For smaller lures I've just started using a diy screw type eye made with soft stainless steel (annealed) in .08 mm tightly twisted then glued with epoxy using a 1mm hole. Each screw is approximately 1/4 to 1/3 the length of the body. For a mid lure eyelet I angle back towards the tail to make sure it's long enough. I wouldn't recommend it for a big lure targeting fish 4 kilo and above. Your method would be even stronger than mine if you use a lateral pin. Hope you are enjoying Canada. Cheers from Indonesia.

Thats pretty interesting, i've actually tested the strength of this style of lock. If i use 1mm piano wire it can handle 300 to 330lb of straight pull before failing.

Excellent tip, I think everyone has happened to us that one day we find not a single snap in a tackle box, I'll put it into practice, thank you very much for sharing

Nice video, thanks for the tutorial. What are the advantages of this type of lure attachment? It looks to me that it is not the best for the weedy whater?
@SolarfallBaits9 жыл бұрын
Jurica Vidaković advantages are that its extremely tough, i use this lock for fly fishing too, and I've fished it in the weeds as well, there is no noticeable difference in weeds sticking to it.

Would really like to see how you use these...how do they install on the lure? What is the benefit? I enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing,
@SolarfallBaits9 жыл бұрын
Frank'O' XC well you simply screw the coil open exposing the loop and then just attach that to a line tie on a lure, screw the coil back on and your done. benefits are that this lock is never going to open accidentally when fishing and its tough as hell too so you are most likely never going to be able to brake it while fishing.

@@jpconnect4015 true, looking back at this i should have probably added a clip of how to use it too. I think i just assumed that most people would be able to figure it out when i made the vid.
