Short, spoiler-free introduction:
This is the Sentient Universe AU (Better name in pending), essentially, it's an AU where planets are born without sentience or what we can call higher thought or intelligence. Planets are the only ones who can gain this sentience without any outside help.
For planets, a planet's age does not matter regarding the order they gain sentience in; they just gain sentience when needs must or when their planetary body has finished stewing in non-sentience for long enough that it itself awakes, sort of like those youkai tree spirits (sorry Japanese culture) when they've reached 100 years old.
So, in this AU, Jupiter can't really claim to be the oldest, but he's the viewed leader and treated as one regardless. (That's a hint)
