Great information here, people are always very confused about how the True-up bill works, you did a great job articulating the topic. Thanks!

The home owner should be able to charge PG&E for using our energy. Or PG&E should pay off our solar panel since they’re the ones benefiting from our energy production

Really appreciate it! I feel I only understood 80% of it.... BUT! As you mentioned! I am keep trying "just believe and understand"!!! LOL

You recommend people clean their solar panels to increase their productivity?
@Solarcraft Жыл бұрын
Yes, occasionally. Check out our video about washing your solar panels: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKrce3Z8nJqKrtEsi=U1cZ-72Y3O_AqrvI

Very informative video. Thank you. I have a simple question. We are in the plan of peak usage 4-9 and rest are off peak hours. We have solar panels. So do I get charged more if I charge my ev car at night vs daytime when sun is shining when both are off peak hours ?
@Solarcraft Жыл бұрын
Buy low, sell high. If you can export your excess solar energy for a higher value than you would purchase the energy at night, then export the energy and charge your EV at night. This assumes your on NEM 2.0 or prior.

Seems like before 4pm, if you are producing power, and going to be selling power back to PG&E, it is probably best for everyone to charge the EV during the day instead of at night.

why a yearly true up anyways? Why not just figure out a credit or payment per month?
@georgedsuarez Жыл бұрын
From this bill, it doesn't seem that PGE cares whether or not you produce in offpeak or peak hours. The Price they are willing to pay seems fixed. Is this correct? I thought that you would get paid more during peak production but this table shows just adding production and consumption and just totals it into net usage or production.

PG&E actually does provide credit based on the retail rate during the time-of-day period for rate schedules under NEM 2.0.

I believe You only get credit for “min delivery charge “ If you use more than you produce. Otherwise you pay the charge

I've got a question. We own our solar panels. We are PG&E customers. Our NEM balance is negative by about $500. Meaning, we have produced more electricity than we have used for the year. Our True Up period ended in October 2021, and it is now December 2021. We have not received any money or credit from PG&E for the $500 in electricity we produced for them. We also are unable to reach any humans at PG&E and keep getting the runaround on the automated phone systems. How can we get the money we are owed?

You should have received something from PG&E asking what you would like to do with their credit. There is usually a letter with options to roll it over, receive a check or donate it. Not knowing your location, If you are on Marin Clean Energy or Sonoma Clean Power - those are the org’s that would cut the check, but they apply overage amount to the new bills from next year. Also - while the true up statement may read $500 coming into end of year - that is 97% of retail rates (less NBCs), and the actual payout overage is paid at wholesale rates, so probably 20% of that. If it’s a check I’d expect it to be for ~$100. Hope this helps.

What's your solar production vs. Home usage to get $500 if credit. For the whole year

I also have question, I'm trying to understand "pge's TOUC plan + baseline credit + net metering" what if 1st 6 month electric usage (pull out from grid)is exceeds baseline allowance and what if next 6 month solar generation exceeds usage(push out to grid). In this case, how they calculating true-up bill with under-baseline usage and over-baseline usage?
@Solarcraft2 жыл бұрын
I believe PG&E simply considers each month a period and then adds the 12 monthly net charges together. Hope that helps.

Solar should not be this confusing
@Solarcraft2 жыл бұрын
You can thank PG&E for the confusion! They are actively trying to make it as convoluted and difficult as possible to go solar. Fight the good fight! Go solar. 😁
@Solarcraft2 жыл бұрын
Well, solar in itself isn't that confusing, but we do have PG&E to thank for making it as complicated and confusing as possible to go solar! :(

If you spend the money to have your own power plant on the roof, why do you still have to pay the energy company. I get my water from a water well and I don’t have to pay city water and sewage fees. The energy company is a monopoly
@Solarcraft2 жыл бұрын
We agree that it’s absurd and we continue to fight PG&E and the CPUC for our solar rights!

Until the new regulations kick in and u see them install a water meter on ur well to monitor usage and penalize if excessive.

unless you have a large battery pack and inverter combination, you're gonna need the electric company.

Pg&e is a scam. I have 20+ solar panels and they want 5500 for a gear? That’s over 500 a month in electricity.
