As someone from the midwest, it always seems super weird to me to see electrical equipment mounted on the outside of the house. Sure looks like it makes things super easy to work on though versus having to run everything through drywall covered walls into fully recessed panels.

Thanks for the video. Really informative. But can I suggest to the editors? Dial down the sound effects volume. They are *way* louder than the average volume of the person talking and almost drown him out at times.

Dale, How about a review of the new SolarEdge Energy Hub Inverter with the LG RESU10H? Thanks

Ralph Castiglione if you are referring to the new DC-coupled inverter, it would use the low voltage battery at 48-volts not the high voltage battery.

Looking at quotes on a very similar system. Does this setup allow for the customer to schedule time of use discharge from the battery in addition to running the critical loads during grid outage or is it just one or the other?

Question about the LG Battery. Under normal operation the light indicators always be in either "ON + Charging" or "ON + Discharging". What does it means when it stops from being in either of those two? The LG manual says it is "power on, idle", but doesn't say if this is a normal condition.

@@felix4525 you’ll want to reach out to LG ESS www.lgessbattery.com but the monitoring app should indicate if your battery is operating correctly

What was wrong with the HD wave inverter? For a residential install, is 3 phase inverter needed as an upgrade? Just curious because that’s a $2000 line item.

what should be the maximum charge level be to extend battery life? my samsung cellphone has the option to set the max level to 85% for the longest battery life, would not the same hold true for RESU10?

Great video! What would you need to do to have more loads in the backup panel? Just adding a larger inverter?

I have a LG battery that holds 9.8kwh. They configured it to only be a back up. So it doesn’t do anything, doesn’t kick on a night. Is that optimal? My bills are typically 5 bucks and at the most $100 in the one month it’s cold( Texas) and maybe $100 in July. Is that the industry standard? My installer claims since my panels pretty much power the house, I’d be losing back up potential while running it at night if the power went down and my battery was at half capacity due to running the house at night. If I understanding it right, the battery only holds 9.8 kWh and would run the house for maybe 8 hours. We have it only hooked up to the fridge, some lights and bedroom. They stated having the central air/heat hooked up would run it down in two hours (4ton until). Just wanted another perspective, thanks. Basically, they said I could have it come on at night and save maybe 20 bucks a month but risk having a depleted battery if the grid went down a night. Of course, they charge a service fee to change the configuration, I wish I could change it myself from time to time. I have solar edge.

There's no way to run an AC unit through the battery. Way too many amps. The battery would fail. It's a good idea to keep the battery running at night because the batteries need to be used or they degrade. I personally don't really care if the grid goes down and I'm stuck with a battery at 50%. For example, if the grid went down at 2am, the battery would run until the sun came up and the solar panels would be running the house while also recharging the battery. The amount of power you're using during an outage (running off the battery) should only be critical loads. You'll be creating a lot more power than you're consuming. Just my two cents. I have a 14 unit/4kw solar system with the SolarHub Inverter + 10kw battery.

Do you go through a permitting process when you change the inverters?
