The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

When I first played this mod I was like WTF how did you get THE Duncan Fisher to voice this mod then I realized these lines were from MW4 Mercs but still it was a very nice surprise and one that made my day

@@Rave_n_ight George Ledoux, his VA, has done other things within the BT community though as Duncan Fisher. He's made a handful of appearances in Tex Talks Battletech videos and the modding community for HBS Battletech hired him to record voice lines for a pilot who appears in some of the mods for that game. I know they have that pilot and voice pack in BTA3062 as that's the mod pack I personally play, and I would imagine Roguetech also uses them though I can't personally verify that as I've not played it. Not to downplay or diminish how he appears in this Solaris mod. Reusing the old lines is perfectly reasonable considering they're being used in the same context as the original. Plus this mod is made by a single person as far as I'm aware, so he wouldn't have the same resources the full modding community for HBS BT would have, namely the money to hire him for what would be far more than a couple dozen lines for a pilot. Just highlighting the fact that he is around and you can hear more of him from other places in the MW / BT sphere.

Those maps look kind of similar to the maps from the mw4 Solaris and the matches are set up similarly as well. Free for all! It’s wild how Duncan’s voice is a nice blast from the past.

You completely missed the repair bays in the corners of the final map. You still got it anyways, good job! Love the free for all mode, something that has been missing from the game. It wouldnt feel like a real arena match if you had teams. Nice to have a challenge! Just need to get that AI behavior fine tuned.

Solaris has always been a free for all. Mech 4 the Solaris also gave bonus money for the number of kills.

Finally a mode where you feel a little pressure instead of like a god, Thanos snapping all your opponents. I love it! This game needs more battles that feel like equally dangerous MWO opponents and not a shooting gallery filled with paper Atlases that pop like balloons.

you can always bump up the total armor multipler of all mechs in the game and then just increase damage to the players team to compensate for the extra armor from your lance

There's a legit rationale behind the group agro AI. In a free-for-all arena, grouping up on the most dangerous enemy makes sense.

Wow, Von Biomes arenas are incredible! So much potential. There's needs to be a the full city map from the tabletop boxset as a way to visit the bars, stables, salvage yards etc where you can do non mech related role playing. Ad also the Solaris Reaches arenas as well as the ones from Mechwarrior 2 Mercs for lower tier battles. Oh, and new Duncan Fisher commentary.. and maybe Tex commentary too?

I really appreciated your dive into the arena. I gave me a few great tactical pointers. Hit and run, don't over damage any target, only hit single targets that are separated from the pack, use your ASF if the AI starts to "cheat". I do use the repair bays especially for rearmament for missiles and ballistics. I have been trying to use the ASF less and less by refining my tactics. You do need to rotate out your mechs though. Helpful features - Harjel, Stealth, long range energy weapons, ECM, MASC and superchargers and the telescopic sight mod, as many Clan items as you can load. SRMs with HE and +3 ammo are killer at short range. Three SRM 6s are like a Delete key.

By the Looks of it, Id only attack the higher skilled targets . Notice how some of them say "New Gladiator", others say "Champion" etc ? Look for fights where a high skill attacks a low skill, and help the low skill take down the high skill .

I found my 2nd Multi-Role ASF on the Planet: Montmarault. If you guys like check the planet maybe the Fighters arent random. But would be good to confirm.

The GI is the Mech who often gets my heavy and sometimes even assault lances out of tonnage trouble. Fairly good armor, a nasty punch but shooting not so often that it draws unhealthy amounts of retaliation. Solid choice.

You can play any scripted mission again in instant action after you've completed it in career/campaign

Great vid as always. Solaris was fun. I hope that the AI issues can be tweeked a bit, ganging up on one unit seems a bit rough, maybe instead some kind of proximity trigger could be used. I wonder if those gauss modifiers on the Gridiron apply to other gauss weapons like Scrap cannons or HAGs? That might be something to check out.

It seems my previous comment was deleted, but I tried to warn you about Solaris. The enemies will target whoever deals the most damage, or whoever kills a person in a short time. You NEED to either play passively, or have a mech that can handle an entire FFA. (Such as something with Void signature system, and LOTs of firepower.) But I suppose you figured that out pretty quickly lol. I should add, winning the Assault bracket gives you a Night Star!!

I would say slap a hag 20 in the grid iron and make small pluse lasers and max that armour out or later in the game give it a stealth suit and make it a gauss headhunter

i think the reason they arent shooting you untill you fire on them is due to your ecm system, combined with the AI.

I love these maps though one thing I think you missed is that there are a number of Field Repair stations on some of these maps namely the jungle and the coliseum

Solaris is extremely well done, however I feel like the optimal strategy is to just hide and wait which is not ideal for gameplay. If victory conditions were based on who dealt the most damage it would solve this problem.

Can tell someone has never played MW4. Solaris 7 was always a big free for all. The more you destroyed, the more monies you got. Yeah you could be passive and hide till the end, which would count as a win, but you would get next to nothing for it.

his issue is with how the enemy AI currently behave. say there are 15 enemy mechs fighting each other, as soon as the player kills a mech all 15 enemy mechs temporary forget about who they were fighting then hard focus on the player.
