I appreciate that your interpretation of Solarpunk involves a lot of smaller, colourful, almost low-tech builds. A lot of Solarpunk art tends to show off giant gleaming white skyscrapers, but that's not JUST what Solarpunk is about. This build makes me wish we lived in a world where we built structures based on how they can service a community or city as opposed to how much money they can extract from their citizens. Like “oh, yeah, we could totally build sources of electricity, water, food, and housing that could be affordable and paid for by the government via taxes.” It makes me wish for a better world and inspires me to see that happen, which I think truly makes this a work of art.

That sounds like the end of Free Guy. That was the idea of the dude and the girl that make a couple in the end at first, before Taika came in and stole their thing and turned it into that game for obnoxious trolls lol. They actually wanted the players being immersed in this bustling, evergreen futuristic solarpunk city; just chilling, roaming around and getting to know the NPC's and the complexity of their individual being which would grow with each interaction, and their interrelations with the other NPC's, the players and the surroundings.

@@SludaBuilds Wouldn't necessarily say individuality so much as freedom, or like, anarchy, more being able to chart whatever sort of path or do whatever you want, than individualism. I think solarpunk is a fair chunk more collective than how we exist now, irrevocably tied with the ideas of eco-socialism and anarchism.
@Mantaforce25 ай бұрын
I LOVE that you are actually including the insides of the buildings and considering the logistics and infrastructure of such a city. A lot of builds look nice on a surface level but fall apart logically when you question their designs and would be impossible to play on because the insides are missing or because things are scaled up to an impractical degree for higher "resolution" if that makes sense. To make your build about more than just superficial aesthetics is what makes TRULY great designs in my opinion. Very well done! EDIT: Okay, some of the insides may be incomplete, at least it looks like it from some of the shots like at 22:50, but great job nevertheless!

I think Cyberpunk and solarpunk go together very well. Cyberpunk is a warning of how we can mess up the future and what we do not want. Solarpunk on the other hand shows a hopeful world that is still realistically achievable. If you put them together then they show that fundamentally it is not what technology exist that decides which one we end up with, since both visions of the future have very similar technology levels. Instead the difference is how people choose to use those technologies, who has access to them, how well the government does, etc

I have watched many Minecraft build videos and this is by far the best one I have ever seen. The attention to detail is flawless and your talent and dedication is truly inspiring. You have made solar punk a new favorite of mine and have inspired me to go out and create. Keep up the great work because you are truly talented my man. You just earned yourself a new loyal subscriber.

@@AinetheIrish The city example in the beginning of a sad looking city is usually not how any city looks. It's extreme bias by someone who doesn't actually look up at buildings or has been to a city such as New York, Chicago, or even a new development like Miami, to see how much culture really is there when you take away to chaos, gritty life on streets, homelessness, and modern residential glass blocks that take up half the street.

it's definitely an exaggeration for the sake of the video. I absolutely love cities, but it's fun to try to imagine better cities because there will never be perfect one.
@WitchKing-Of-Angmar5 ай бұрын
@@SludaBuilds and that's alright, people are always trying their best to improve, it turns out places like London in the 1800s became extremely polluted because people were desperate and didn't care at all about something that was important to them. The industries were definitely full of greed, but many were just accustomed to the practice. Especially chimneys, heaven forbid New York city in 1750 have chimneys the rats! Honestly, we only see these things bad today because we aren't busy enough, and have invested our practices into more angular discoveries like science and medicine more so than at the time. Though those people must have been very healthy and resilient at the time to have lived through without major illnesses, same with chimneys. Probably seemed charming at the time having all these homes puffing at night keeping the houses warm in winter. I don't exactly look at your proposed world and see anything remotely natural or friendly, everythings too large, strange, and clean with overly corporate looking materials for everything around you, glass domes encasing atriums instead being out in the open. Truly the best way to live was the towns of North America, open, well storied, beautiful homes that didn't take up too much and still remained populated, all completely sorrounded by 50,000 acres of forest and land that they have never inhabited until the next settlement/town. we also traveled the ocean by sail with zero coal production and the worst thing that entered the ocean was wood chips and tea 😉. It was remarkably normal, and I much prefer it to this tourist island.

This just popped up on my feed and this is freaking awesome dude. This was super cool to watch and I love the style. I really do hope you had a lot of fun being creative with this one man cause it definitely brought joy to my day. Total looking at that Patreon now even though I haven’t played Minecraft in maybe 10 years 😂

The way you talk so casually while you've clearly put so much thought into the realism, the structure, the layout, the details, the story line and just everything makes this even crazier. This whole build is incredibly impressive ❤

i also love how you even built it in a chronological manner in terms of the lore, it adds a lot to the video and helps make a build of this scale more digestible.

This is my new favorite Minecraft creation of all time. I had genuine shivers the entire time I was watching. I don't know if I can ever feel this kind of haunting wonder for something that isn't this peak. Thank you for this gracious contribution to my dopamine levels.

I'm so happy someone decided to bring this idea to life! I dream up concepts of such cities in my head every day, but I didn't even think it had a name. I'm so glad that some people understand the harmony between human beings and nature

This is amazing. You have built an intricate and gorgeous world with a detailed story for each and every area. Then give the world download for both versions, it's amazing how few people do that. You have made a work of art out of passion for a style, and it shows. It's inspiring, really.

How do you like a video twice? This is absolutely STUNNING! I’d love to see the more in-depth build process on some parts, especially how you chose the shapes and color palettes. I especially love how you include lore and context behind the different pieces, explaining the history. You do a really great job of mixing colors, sharp and curved lines, shapes, scales, and terrain with man made structures! But while all of these are my favorites, I especially appreciate the time you take to mix *time* and *space* with old and new buildings! It makes the city seem a lot more lived in and comfortable, like it’s a place made by hands and not just an omnipresent builder, if that makes sense? It also grounds the idea in reality by providing context as to what’s where and why it’s there. Absolutely breathtaking. I could go on more about it, like the fantastic natural looking statue and the blending of actual infrastructure to make sense in the context of the build, but it would take a year to list out everything I love about this build! That effort paid off in spades, in my eyes. Absolutely gorgeous build, and a beautiful piece of *artwork.* Hopefully this comment helps boost your stuff to new viewers, too! You deserve a lot more! (Also I just wanted to mention how cool the music choices, editing, and crediting are! Definitely would have preferred to see part of the build process in full since someone mentioned how it was previewed backwards, but I’m not sure if that’s for the entire thing or not. It’d be awesome to see some behind the scenes if those don’t exist already. Plus, it looks super smooth the way you did it, so I don’t particularly mind either way!)

The only thing that rubbed me wrong was the largest crane in the industrial bay. The base is so thin compared to the top that it looks to have no support and looks uneasy. However, right after that you mentioned how this one neighborhood was built by the seaside to "Get away from the sounds of the industry" which immediately immersed me so much in this area. The rest of the island is so good and i honestly cant think of a better example of solarpunk in Minecraft. You're awesome!
