Why don't you show us the $/kWh, which is arguably more important for many than other x-factors?

I like the Anker and reached out to them last week for info. I do wish they were a little more transparent on pricing. I think that is a benefit to Tesla. As a homeowner, it is kind of painful reaching out to multiple companies for quotes across multiple battery brands. Some support Tesla, while others work with Franklin or Anker. Rarely do they support all brands.

Is the X1 compatiblw with off the shelf meter collar transfer switches?

Thanks Joe! I would love to see more on this Anker Solix X1 maybe versus the Franklinwh unit. I've seen a KZbinr installed Anker Solix X1 at a friend's house an I like that display on the unit if you could go into more detail on what information that's really saying the unit is putting out or storing? Ive also seen a YT'er from CA with the Franklinwh unit so I'm up in the air on which one to choose. Needless to say I like both but lean towards Solix for the display info. So that would be a great versus. Thanks again for these videos they're very helpful in trying to understand all this solar power information also make the correct choices.

Joe, love your videos. I would like to see more info during these evaluations concerning EV integration. Features such as "charge on solar" and birectional EV charging are very important to EV owners in addition to blackout backup.

Yes, EV integration is an important feature for home battery systems and I will try to include more details on that in future videos.

Please explain the difference between capacity and power at the 8:24 min mark. You have Tesla's Powerwall's power at 11.5kw and Anker's SOLIX at 6kw, but for storage capacity, the Powerwall is 13.5kwh and the SOLIX is 30kwh. Shouldn't a battery with more power have more capacity?
@SolarSurge
@SolarSurge Ай бұрын
Good question. Capacity is a measure of total energy storage (measured in kWh) which is an absolute amount. You can think of energy storage like the capacity of the gas tank in your car. On the other hand, Power is a measure of the rate at which energy is transferred. i.e. "How fast can I consume the energy?" You can think of power like the max speed or max horsepower output of your car's engine.

In California you want continuous power under 10kW or you lose SGIP rebates. Tesla goofed on that one

7:35 The Anker SOLIX X1 generator function is not even available at this point AFAIK. They said at the end of 2024 and now they say 2025. It is also unclear if you can connect a V2H EV vehicle to it since they don't have normal generator DO/NO/NO connections. For example the Cybertruck has a 50 amp receptical output and the other EV trucks have a 30 amp receptical output.

I'm really interested to see how these systems compare to the EG4 Grid Boss/Flex Boss system.

Tesla needs to better decouple the inverter from the battery. Secondly, inverter failures result in a remove and replace of the whole unit. Tesla still hasn’t decided to include generator support. Third, Tesla has yet to get a lot of utilities to accept the meter switch.

The Power Wall 3 deserves a 3rd Factor for having 6 built in investors negating the need for micro investors to handle diverse solar configurations and shading.

Good point. From that perspective, I think both Tesla and Anker are solid companies. The key here is to choose the right installer.

Of the 2 the X1 is better because of several factors: 1) It uses microinverters for the solar. You can use theirs or other manufacturers as the solar connection is an AC coupled port in their backup controller. Microinverters are better for safety and installation cost reasons (no metal conduit runs inside). Another factor in their favor is the ability to track per module output. Besides showing pretty charts, this feature allows MUCH better warranty management for the individual modules as the total output is not grouped together as with string inverters. 2) The Stackable battery design is clearly superior as it allows much simpler capacity upgrades. All battery manufacturers should switch to this approach. 3) The Anker system looks great. For the type of money involved, the homeowner is entitled to a great looking system. Many of the commenters are pushing products from other companies for cost reasons. While their products provide a nice price point for a string inverter based system they are string inverters (sadness) and they do not look as good as the Anker, Tesla or Enphase offerings. Where the Anker system needs work is their backup controller does not support portable generators at this time. This could be fixed if they support two wire start generators via a software update. That way you could use a fixed generator OR actual portable generator OR a battery stack from Anker or EcoFlow OR an EV pickup truck with a 240V 30A/40A outlet like the GM products or the Ford Lightning!

6KW of output or a totla of 25amps. Hard pass. That won't help any decently sized home and gets you into the critical load panel game whch =PIA

Power outage you CANNOT use the solar. Why don't you tell viewers that fact? That is why I decided against it. I am sure if buyers would be given the real truth about solar I would not be surprised if sales would sag.

X1 when it comes out you can. I don't know about Tesla. I know with power stations you can. With other brands like using EG4 and building your own system you can charge with solar and still use the batteries.

All this technology you are showing really is over priced vintage technology. I would not recommend any of this to anyone at this point especially with EG4 as a baseline. These just don't make any sense price wise for anyone just completely over priced at this point.
