Yeah hands down sunpower was the highest qoute at 75k for an installation of 16 kw system last year.. That price is insane.

Been super happy with my REC 405w panels we put on the roof a year ago. Worth noting that if you are doing a ground mount the heat coefficient is likely a bit less of a concern as you will likely have wind helping cool the panels down a bit more versus on the roof where there is likely less airflow under the panels.

What company did your install?
@llN3M3515llАй бұрын
@JosePimentel-n5f Green City Solar out of Fort Meyers, I worked directly with Robert the owner, he was great, I had done a ton of research so I knew I wanted the REC Alpha 405w and iq8m micros. Put in a 16.2 kw system, 30 panels on the south and 10 on the east, which is on target to produce 25-26mw over the 12 month time frame. Yeah can't recommend Green City Solar enough, if you are in SW Florida definitely give them a call.

The back-panel circuit electrical design ALONE of Maxeon panels should move it to the #1 position on this list. You literally have a higher probability of being struck by lightning in your lifetime than having a Maxeon panel failure in its 40 Year lifespan.

You should do a similar list of entry level panels so that having solar might actually make financial sense.

The new REC panels are shorter and wider than the Pure 2 panels. Turns out I can't fit as many panels and would lose production if I switched to them.
@llN3M3515llАй бұрын
even with the higher output?
@jabbathespudАй бұрын
The 470W panels use 8% more surface area (22.4 ft^2) compared to the 430W (20.8 ft^2) so that the new panels only produce 1.5% more power per W/ft^2. The new panels are 15% wider and 7.5% shorter so losing even 1 panel loses me 5% which leaves me with 97% of the power I would get with the Pure 2 panels.
@vinnie97Ай бұрын
@@jabbathespud Hadn't done the measuring in my case, so I'm glad you did (I have the 420Ws currently installed since the 430Ws have been so elusive to find). I suspect I would be in a similar position of loss because the roof is already tightly packed as it is. Gonna' take even greater efficiency to be able to milk out anymore production from this roof.

Thanks for the presentation. How about Canadian Solar TOPHiKu6 455-470W? The 455 uses N-Type cells, has a module efficiency of 22.3%, a 0.55% or less degradation rate, and temperature coefficient -0.29%. He struggles to give the same stats in the same consistent format for each one! But that's the least of it. This same guy talks about contradictory concepts almost weekly. One minute DIY is a thing. Next video, the warr a try and guaranty are only as good as the company behind it. For the DIY dupe, this means you have no real warranty on your install but will you hear him say this??? Nope. But the most frustrating thing is hearing him call the number 5 a "value" solar module! (At least he calls them that now). How is it a "value" if the warranty is less and the degradation is more??? It's as if he has no concept of the meaning of what he's saying in real terms! I say this in alarm because this is supposed to be high level, trusted advice!!! And finally, he talks about PPW the most meaningless and foolish faux metric ever introduced to this industry - a self destructive, self sabotaging industry that has failed to launch effectively because of failure to think clearly!
