Beautiful example of what a Gibson Les Paul should be. You did all the right mods in my opinion.

Moving up to a 335 is always a good move. Best of luck with your sale! Who ever buys it is getting a quality guitar.

I bought a 97 Les Paul studio of Ebay 10 yrs ago. Ebony with gold trim ebony fretboard. I've changed a lot on it. 496/500 pups, CTS 500k pots, 50's wiring, .011 caps, Tonespro locking bridge, alum tailpiece, Tusc XL nut, and Kluson locking tuners. I use Daddario XL 140 nickel strings. 140's are thr Drop D set that starts with a .52 E and the rest just .10's set. Mine also came with a chainsaw case. Pretty cool deal for $800 back then. As a Strat player 1st this is a great Paul. All these changes make a great stay in tune Paul I can beat on and not worry about hurting a super valuable guitar. But the wear and tear on the paint is amazing. Gibson really needs to paint a bit thicker. This thing has so much wearing off so fast it looks 20 yrs older than it is. My Amer deluxe plus Strat is 4 yrs older and looks 20 yrs newer. Guess it's Fender's thick paint cause I've owned the Strat since 96 and so much of it looks new compared to the Paul.

Great looking and sounding piece. Nice to see the burst killer living up to its name. I used to want a 335 until I played one and a solid traditional back to back. I had to take home the LP. Maybe if they were reissues it would have been another story but the Les Paul just had something about it. Somebody will get an really good guitar for the price.

Oooh man... Is that tempting... I'll keep an eye for it popping up on Reverb (I prefer to use Affirm with them). Sounds killer through that Friedman too. You're review videos of it were top notch. One of those showed up used at a local store a while a back and was a real treat to play my Explorer through.

Was that some playing from the Pete thorn demo of a Trainwreck? I thought about transcribing that tune myself! Beautiful guitar, well taken care of, Lyle. Whoever ends up with it will cherish an excellent instrument.

If I play anything that sounds like Pete, trust me, it was just a happy accident.

HAHA! No lie, every LP i own has a chip in it in the same exact spot just about that yours does. Too funny, i am not alone ! :-) Mine were from having the guitar on a stand and unplugging another guitar i was holding and I dropped the cable and the tip of the cable hit the guitar, ive had this happen to 5 LPs in almost hte same spot. Now I walk away from my guitars when I unplug my cable. I have no nerves in my right fingers so I drop stuff a lot. :-)

@@PsionicAudio Nice ! The way it should be ;-) . One of my main guitars (and i still own it) for years was a 1999 Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus w/ Trans Black finish with AA top. Ive bought and sold and traded a lot of guitars in my day, but this is one that i would never trade. ;-)

Thumbs up for a Tom Waits reference! In a similar vein I also recommend "Billboard Love" by Uncle Bonsai: " The man is always smiling, as he leans against his Cadillac, and offers you your money back if you can beat his price/ and the woman's so beguiling, as she rubs against her Chevrolet and offers you some repartee and Motor Trend advice...."

Vibrato is on the wrist brother. You just gotta keep trying it. It's taken 30 years and I'm still perfecting my bent string, wide vibrato. But it's in the wrist. Noones fingers can handle it.
