Nice looking mini van, I've said I'd never buy a Chrysler product but I've considered this van. Like the idea turning off the sliding door. My parents have had Chrysler Town & Country Van's but they have had issues with the power sliding doors which they traded for a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. I'm still researching for my next vehicle.

Growing up we had an 88 Dodge Caravan. It had its fair share of issues mostly small electrical issues and interior trim issues. But one thing that no other car even our Nissans had, was the fact that it stayed with our family for 15 years. We bought it new when I was 3 and it was my first car senior year of High School until I left for college where my dad then sold it. What it had in these minor issues, it made up for it in durability. And if it had a problem, it was easy to repair and parts were readily available for it. I haven't owned one of these newer Chrysler vehicles but I have rented a Pacifica and I can say the interior quality has gotten FAR better since our 88. I've also heard that the Pentastar engine has been a pretty solid engine for Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep.

Yes they are. Anyone who tells you that it can't compare to others or that it's bad is a liar. The pacifica is far better than the past chrysler and dodge minivans. My family has rented 3 pacificas and 2 siennas in 2019. None other can compare to the pacifica.

Don’t get a American car unless you want it to break down at 55k miles. My dad learned that the hard way with his Ford Explorer xlt. Btw you know what ford stands for? Fix or repair daily! 😂

@Milan Kraguljac as time has gone on the chrysler products are getting better since the fiat acquisition. This used to be true, but the general consensus is Sienna and Odyssey aren't as good as they were and chrysler and kia minivans are on par or better in many ways.

I'm sorry jake I personally love Chrysler as a brand but did you just say the Chrysler 3.6 is reliable?? Sure they are reliable, for the first 50k miles. Nowadays if its a Chrysler without a hemi in it, run like hell unless you want to be emptying your piggy bank in three years
@Jakeman216425 жыл бұрын
Matthew Serice I'm not an American car person at all and normally I'd agree with you but the 3.6 actually seems to be a half decent engine. I've had quiet a few high mileage Jeeps, vans and other stuff traded in with that engine and they've all been surprisingly....fine. My dealership also uses older Caravans as courtesy shuttles and they're also surprisingly reliable for how hard they get driven daily. Can't believe I just defended Chrysler lol.

@@Jakeman21642 that's fair I've just seen too many with valve seat/cam issues at such low milage. BTW hope your still enjoying your Volvo I remember watching your s60 videos all night before I got mine. Now that's a good engine haha

@@Jakeman21642 I've owned two Chrysler vehicles (an 88 Caravan and a 94 Voyager). What I have taken from our experience is the cars can be a bit finicky. Our 88 had some electrical problems like short in the interior lights, malfunctioning power window, and a failed power lock. But we had it for 15 years and 160K miles. Our 94 had an issue where the transmission would hesitate to engage first gear. But the issue was resolved by replacing the transmission fluid and continued chugging along for 112K miles. What they have in these minor issues they make up for it in durability. But they are no more finicky than your typical BMW or Mercedes and those cars are straight up endless money pits. The Chryslers atleast parts are cheap and plentiful and just about any mechanic will work on them. They just need to be taken care of and I have to say, I think 70% of Americans don't maintain their cars the way they should be.

If you want the piece of mind in the reliability aspect, the Toyota is the best option. My only gripe with Toyota (and I say this as a 2016 Rav4 owner) is that they have absolutely no appeal to them. They are straight up appliances and have become too popular as Ubers and taxi cabs where I live. I love my Rav4 and plan on keeping it for as long as I can, but its undoubtedly a boring unrefined vehicle and I just want something more appealing. If you want a van with more appeal and a smoother more refined ride, go for the Pacifica. Chryslers aren't bad vehicles. They lead the way with innovation of the minivan. We had an 88 Caravan for 15 years and 160K miles. None of our other vehicles have stayed with us as long as our Caravan did. We also had a 94 Voyager with 112K miles. They are durable vehicles when taking care of. It remains to be seen if our Rav4 will. If you want a healthy balance between the two, as in almost as reliable as a Toyota but more appealing than a taxi cab, then go for the Odyssey. The new Odyssey is very nice and sleek and probably the one other minivan that competes in innovation with the Chrysler vans. There is also the Kia Sedona if you want something also almost as reliable as the Toyota but has a great value proposition and warranty.
