Love these big 70's cars. Haven't been in one in years but as I remember it as a kid you would gently floaaaaat over the bumps. More classics please , Autohause. Love this one.

I used to know a guy in Sacramento California that had one, his late Aunt and Uncle ordered it from a Cadillac Dealer in Michigan , he inherited it by the mid late 80's, these were contracted by Cadillac, not some chop shop convertible , cut from a Coupe DeVille, these are great cars, last of the larger engines in Cadillacs

I love the interior Color Selections they had in Leather back then. Possibly over 6 different choices besides black, which really "decorated" the Cadillacs. Today, black is the norm & you're lucky if they offer ONE alternative?

Maryann-I'm interested in purchasing this car as I collect older Cadillacs. Is it still available? I live about 60 miles from Naples. You said it turnedover and fired up quickly. Which is great.

It is very dependent on condition and market. These cars are priced significantly over what you'd get as a private seller, but they are the nicest I've ever seen too. You have to remember they are an established dealer and have customers you don't. I'm a car flipper and that infomation is in general but Cadillacs often sit for a lot longer than other cars so don't get discouraged.

Since this is an older car, does it take a while to start and crank? Do you have to give it gas to start it?
@williamdennberg56076 жыл бұрын
I have a 78 DeVille. I have to give it a few pumps to start otherwise it just cranks and won't turnover.
@williamdennberg56076 жыл бұрын
I understand the turnover process-starter to flywheel to crankshaft process and then it fires up. My turnover process seems to be long. I have to pump it and hold the gas pedal to the floor otherwise it doesn't fire up. Is this what you are referring to as turning over.
@joe60966 жыл бұрын
It's a '79 so it has the carbureted 7.0 liter, so yes you need to give it gas to start it when cold. The DeVilles didn't get fuel injection until the '81 4100s. Or what most people would say, when they got the 800 pound paper weight.

@Willian Dennberg I have never believed in pumping the accelerator before turning the key. My 1973 and 1978 Cadillacs I only pressed the accelerator down once before turning the key. A mechanic once blew up the muffler, because he pumped the accelerator in my 1973 Cadillac, before turning the key. My 1975 Mercury Montego MX with a 351 cui and my 1976 Mercury Grand Marquis with a 400 cui engine were the same. Only once. My 1975 Continental Mark IV is a little different. If you just as much as consider pressing the accellerator down more than once, the car won't start untill next day. It is the car I have had (still have) which cranks the longest, when it is cold, but it DOES start. When it is warm, you touch the accellerator slightly, when you turn the key. Pretty much like he sun visor instructions. We have friends, who drive a Continental Mark V with a 400 cui engine. It is the same. I have had a 1975 Gran Torino Brougham with a Windsor 351 engine, which was equally sensitive.

In 1979 I remember seeing a red one like this in a Caddy showroom. The sticker was $45,000 when it was new. My father owned a limo service, I saw it in the showroom when we picked up the limos. it cost more than the 2 limos he bought that day combined.

It's a 1979, not a 1978. The 78's had different grill, different plastic wood dash, different power window and lock buttons, different seat design, and different tail lights. What is wrong about this car, that is not a 1979 steering wheel, more like a 1981 or newer.
