Own this in the Baja. LOVE it. Use it 2 months of the year - one month in spring, one in fall for Steelheading during the cold months. Just me and my lab. Shower regularly, bathroom, space to store my fly tying gear and materials, great counter space for food prep, adequate propane fridge space, AND clearance to get to my favourite riverside spots without tearing the tanks off. I’m 6’2”, 230 pds. Lower bunk very comfortable. Don’t have to remake the bed/table every night/morning. Fish 12 hour days, come back to this RV for dinner, hot shower, meal, and an evening of scotch and fly tying with the lab in dry warmth before retiring.

Do you think a 2001 Isuzu Trooper would be able to sufficiently pull this? Towing capacity is 5,000 lbs when now but it's now 20 years old so obviously performance changes. Just trying to gauge people's opinions
@JoshtheRVNerd4 жыл бұрын
@@CdotForbes13 In my experience the first thing to check on an older vehicle like that is chassis/hitch corrosion. I've seen several that weren't recommended for towing
@CdotForbes134 жыл бұрын
@@JoshtheRVNerd no rust or corrosion present, just trying to get a rough idea what can tow them. What kind of vehicles have you seen tow them. I would plan to put a trailer brake on my Trooper if it was something that it could handle without being dangerous. I prefer to not go the pop up camper route and this seemed like the smallest travel trailer that can sleep 4.

What is the difference between this and the Baja. Or is it just a Different Color Scheme inside, like a Black and Grey instead of a Brown and Beige look?

I got one of these used for $12,000 and lived in it for 2 months. I will moving soon, and I’m going to live in it while i work and save money for a house. I love this thing. I got the big roof AC and it’s freezing cold. I use the top bunk for storage. It is more than enough for me and my dog.

What an awesome layout for a person traveling alone as a nomad, i would get the fantastic fan as an option two 20 lb propane tanks and a solar plug for a suitcase style solar setup and it would be perfect.

For a little camper, this sure has a LOT of features! An outdoor shower would be really nice though...
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
The 8ft wide models will have that feature, but you're correct that it's not found on their smaller 7ft body models. An easy solution for quick cleanups is a simple Y-splitter off the park water spigot.

RV Furnaces run on propane. There are some RVs with electric heaters, but typically even those have an LP furnace.

Dumb question: Are there any other significant differences -- aside from materials used and looks -- between the smooth-sided fiberglass travel trailers and the more old-fashioned ones like the one above that have corrugated aluminum metal sides? To my eyes the corrugated aluminum-sided trailers are looking sooooo outdated in comparison to the fiberglass-sided ones. However, I realize that the aluminm-sided ones are typically less-expensive.

Do you recommend to use this Jayco 154 bh on dirt roads? I knew that its structure is made of wood.

Neither wood nor aluminum structures have ever shown to be better/worse in variant road conditions. Plenty of people own campers like this on country roads that do just fine

What is the Internal Floor to Ceiling Height? I'm 6'6". Can you ask someone to hop out and measure the ceiling heights in a few small trailers? I like how the hole in the ceiling (where a Rooftop AC would be) is a skylight with fan instead. Another inch or two for me!
@JoshtheRVNerd2 жыл бұрын
When this was made it was only 6'1" or something like that. NOW they're 6'6" from floor to ceiling panel (standard height)

Is it possible to run 8000 air conditioner on a Yamaha or Honda, or ? 2000-2200 generator. I know you need much more than that for the 13500 roof mount units.

@JoshtheRVNerd4 жыл бұрын
@@Mamagrizz1990 It really depends on the generator. Not all 2000's are built the same. Some run more than others. It's weird like that. Additionally, some A/C units have a harder startup than others.

What are your thoughts on OSB roofs and floors? I really want to get this trailer but the fact that they use OSB on the roof and floor instead of plywood is concerning to me.
@JoshtheRVNerd3 жыл бұрын
I have a video on OSB in RVs here you might find helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hn6vlaSqhdyCppI -- drop a comment on that after you've watched it & let me know if you have more questions (or just to say thanks!) But in short: OSB is fine. OSB alone doesn't make an RV good or bad. What you're looking at is likely one that is simply made with more of a price focus. It may be built just fine, but you may also want to do some more looking. May I ask what brand it is you're looking at and which model? I may be able to offer further insights with that info.

We are hoping to NOT go towable. However, if financing dictates a towable camper, what can a 2010 Kia Optima tow? Or can it tow anything?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
It reads as having a 2k tow rating, but I really wouldn't recommend it for towing much of anything. If you were absolutely going pull with an Optima, then something like a smaller tent camper or perhaps one of the 12-series Rockwood Geo Pros (Seen Here: bit.ly/2Tdfd1k) is really all your vehicle should be dealing with.
