Wish the current travel restrictions into Canada were relaxed a bit. Lovely boat, worth a look no doubt.

Do you ever post the prices of boats that you advertise?
@captain72903 жыл бұрын
It is a nice conversion. But PLEASE get it right. I believe that this boat was a TROLLER, and NOT a trawler. Trawlers are largely responsible for boats like this being converted to pleasure boats.

Having owned and operated TROLLERS for 30 years, it irks me when someone calls them a trawler. If your calling yourself a boat guy you should learn the difference.

LORDY LOU, I was just going to leave the same message. I fished (TROLLED) for Salmon out of Sitka for 3+ years. The ATA (Alaska Trollers Association) Actually had to print out a large poster making the proper destination. It is a nice conversation...

Is 'troller' a west coast American term? I live in a small outport that people have fished out for 500 years, in Newfoundland. Never heard the term troller before. We just say 'hook and line', so as to distinguish from gill netting, seining or dragging.
@josealemany45253 жыл бұрын
@@harbourdogNL Hi. Fair enough... On the west coast of Canada and the US there is a style of fishing called "trolling" It is where the boat is moving through the water pulling lines along that have lures with hooks attached. The idea is to get the fish to bite at the lures. Hook and Line is a more general term that would include trolling. For instance long lining, jigging, are hook and line too, with very different boats. Generally trollers are fishing for salmon, but you can also troll for Tuna (called Jig boats in the US ) Trawling is very different in that the boats are mostly much bigger and they are pulling a net, not lines with hooks. It would be better to refer to boats like yours as "converted fish boat"..."converted commercial fishing boat" something like that. Or to be specific "converted west coast troller" It's like calling a doryman jigging for cod a trawler. I think you can see where he might be insulted.

@@harbourdogNL yes, I believe that troller is a Westcoast thing. Just like a person being known as a "water man" is a east coast thing. Years ago the media who RARELY get anything right kept calling TROLLERS , TRAWLERS. TRAWLERS pull huge nets behind and indiscriminately drag up every ocean life form around. The ones that have some market value are crushed. Not my idea of health sea food. In a store, always ask where the fish came from. BY LAW they got to answer truthfully. What they call "Atlantic salmon" is more of a trout.

@@harbourdogNL oops I just noticed that I said that I trolled for 3+ years, wrong, it was 30+ years.
