Soldano SLO Modern Metal (Profiled)

Man, how I love the SLO100...and the Kemper....and EMG!
A lot of people still ask if the SLO can do modern metal...hell yes it can!
Here's one example for a modern tone (KSE Cover)...I also profiled this chain cause I liked it so much...

Of all the high gain amps I've listened to over the years, the Soldano SLO when boosted has the tightest gain of any amp I've EVER heard. It's ridiculous! The way the amp compresses sounds so different in that it is still very musical. An SLO has a very unique Voicing imo. A lot of clones sound similar but the difference is the harmonics of the SLO that are very distinctive and sweet. Clones often have slightly harsher overtones, to my ears at least. Almost there but not quite. Really a unique amp. Great demo btw. \m/

Well you did go the KSE route which is the 808 in front of a crunchy cold clipper but that's exactly it: Take the boost out of the situation and it's not the most suitable. Can it go there? Maybe? A mod or two and a ton of volume? Still other amps are designed more around that idiom rather than the SLO as it is birthed more or less. Still great sound but it is the boost that defines things. KSE pretty much get a close sound out of most amps but never without the 808.

On a soldano is having the loop bypassed like on a mesa where it's just a switch selection or is it something done internally as a modification ? or is it only on certain year soldanos? I'm going to be purchasing an SLO-100 with depth mod and don't really know this stuff or what the benefit of having the loop bypassed is. PLEASE REPLY :)

It's a physical mod that you can get when you order the amp. One of the factory mods like depth etc. I have a comparison video with and without loop here on youtube as well, search my channel for it
