Dear Jacob, as a developer of analog synthesizers in the eighties, I must say that this is a beautiful way for people to meet the possibilities of this strange instruments. I must congratulate you and hope this becomes standard for teaching electronic music.

Amazing collaboration and I’m really loving the plugin so far. It’s a potential classic in my eyes! My only request is midi support in standalone mode. I use my iPad in tandem with hardware samplers and synths often so I use standalone apps with midi controllers quite a bit. Would be a super useful feature for me, and I’m sure others.

Jakob _ I commented on your last video how your Hilda video was why, to me, that your video about your journey into hardware modualr made total sense. I got into iOS/ software Modular directly because of that video review of Hilda and how you really showed the possibilities of it in a way that really clicked with me. Which led me to Brams creative approach truly one of a kind apps, which led me to the ABF forums, then to Drambo, then MiRack, and led me to explore the many great apps to create some music/noise with. All this to say that this led me to have respark my long dormant creativity and it’s been a really special journey that I wouldn’t have thought I’d ever get into as deep as I have been but it’s been, creatively, the most rewarding feeling of the past couple years. In a way this software feels very full circle. SO well done! Congrats to both you and Bram! Thank you for putting this out for people to create with. From one extreme nerd to another - Happy to support you two extreme nerds. Cheers. End ADHD over share 😂🎉

Much to like here, and i obviously needed a moo-dular, as it's up and running while watching the video 😊 Seems both pretty intuitive and sufficiently complex. Looking forward to play and noodle with the moodules! Would be cool if we could set our own preferences for cable colouring at some point, but your solution is elegant 🙂 Thank you both for making a new inspiring music app in 2024 that actually works on my 1st gen iPad pro (2015?) running older OS (i refuse to break it with an update now). Much appreciated!

Really nice app, congratulations! A few suggestions if you like to make it even cooler, the tuning knows for the oscillators have a dent at one, which is great if you want one but really annoying if you want 1.01 or something similar. Also it would be wonderful to get midi out from the unique sequencer, both for controlling other things and for recording / editing the melodies it produces.
@JakobHaqКүн бұрын
Tap/hold on a control and drag the finger further away from the control to get a finer more sensitive control. Now you should be able to get those finer values. This technique is used in a multitude of music apps on iOS and is very easy to miss.

Brilliant. And as one who loves to use LFOs to create rhythmic scenarios, I especially like the concept to the pulse sequencer. I didn’t see in this demo a way to determine note length/duration between one note to another. Unless I’m missing something it seems to be more of a pulse arpeggiator than a sequencer? I’m not being critical I’m just curious about the capabilities. Rock on man, you are forever making the coolest shit. Cheers.
@JakobHaq3 күн бұрын
Every state (note) of the pulse is held until it switches state (note), so there’s not PWM control for it. Thing of the CV out looking like a sample and hold signal only it’s not random since the user can control each state. The sequencer also creates a trigger with every time a state is switched and that signal looks like a trigger signal.

Ok... first off, congratulations this look absolutely incredible. I am over the moon. Well done! But I am weirdly emotional because I was somewhat exasperated a number of years ago when you refused to do a video on Bram Bos's Ripplemaker, still to this day my favourite iOS synth and the gateway drug for me going modular for real. It got me curious about West Coast synthesis and well I haven't looked back since! Back then you said you don't like the modular workflow... Now I am sure you are very busy with lots of videos to make but it would be very awesome if you went back on that refusal and did a little video about that wonderful app Ripplemaker and give Bram Bos some extra promo for a gem of an old app. But I appreciate I'm being a giant baby right now. I am so happy that Bram Bas has made another patch cable modular app and kind of blown away you have changed your feelings as well and are so involved. I suppose the dream now would be some way to cross patch between Solderbox and Ripplemaker. But I don't expect that to happen or be possible. Love your work Jakob, forgive my emotional offloading! Keep doing what you do!

I did some extreme tests to see how much I could load before stuff started glitching. . First up was iPad Pro M1. I ran 35 instances of Solderbox, all of them playing a generative mono patch with the delay turned on. DSP went to 95%-Max. Don’t recommend running any project, regardless of app combo maxed out like that because it will be glitchy. . I tried the same test on my iPad Pro 2015 and it can run 15 before it glitches out. My iPhone 6s from 2015 can run 11 instances before it glitches out. . The amount of maximum instances will differ with each model iDevice since they all have different specs.

I like Bram Bos’ and your stuff, but this is another opportunity lost, to translate a hardware synthesizer into a touch device app. Unfortunately there are not many synthesizer apps, which are really for mobile touch screens: Borderlands Granular and Samplr (unfortunately only for the iPad), Jasuto (unfortunately abandoned from his creator), Nanoloop, Koala, Animioog (Z), Virtual ANS, TC-11, Curtis (prehistoric iOS times), Ripplemaker, Tardigrain and some more. But do we really need another recreation of a hardware (semi-)modular? Where is the positive difference to miRack? Can I change more than one parameter on the touchscreen at the same time for example?
@brambos93703 күн бұрын
Yes, it's obviously fully multitouch so you can change as many parameters on the touchscreen as you have fingers.
