No, they are wasting their time. There are several different methods to getting a horse to load but one does require soft dirt ground and a 6ft. whip with a plastic bag tied on the end of it and a lunge line. (At no time do you hit the horse with the whip) The philosophy is to make it unpleasant and hard work to refuse to enter, whereas trying to enter or entering is the reward. There's more to this, but you'd have to see a video to see how well it works.

My uncle farmed with shire horses in N. Wales and had an old horse trailer parked in the grazing field. Each afternoon he'd would put snacks in the trailer feeders, changing between apples carrots and other root veg. The horses would just walk in and out as they felt. Then when he needed to transport them miles down the road to another farm to work, he just put apples etc. in the road trailer and left em to it, they loaded themselves.

Reminds me of my Arrow; the worst loader, EVER!!! It once took my brother and I, 4 hours to coax him onto the back of my brother's truck. We tried everything! Finally after realizing we weren't giving up, he, literally, leapt into the truck. I miss my horse every day, even his stubbornness because I love him so much. He was 27 1/2 years old, I had him from day 1. He's been gone 20 years and I want him back. 😢

My wonderful jumper Zan was always a two person loader, one in front leading, one in back pushing on rump. My husband had just walked out on me and I had to go to riding lessons with Zan. I walked him to the trailer and as usual he refused to load. I firmly told him that he would walk 20 miles behind the trailer to the arena if he did not load up . He gave me a surprised look "oh? You are really serious?". He walked in and never again refused to load.

I love when things like this happen, call it synchronicity, normally you'll find that, maybe ahead of them, there was an accident or something strange happened, and if, if in that moment, they'd have been there, something tragic could've happened. Hat’s off to the patient and gentle handlers who worked with him. If The Queen had been there I’m sure SHE would have coaxed him into the trailer, with several Corgi’s nipping at his heels! Too bad they couldn’t open the back, or covered his eyes as he seemed to balk once he thought he was too close to the back.

I wonder if they tried using a fence to corral the horse and drive it in? I have observed that sometimes that works. Otherwise a rider could try tricking the horse into "riding" onto the trailer while the rider just holds onto the roof of the trailer and slides off backward. I have seen KZbin videos of horse riders doing that and apparently it works.

Los caballos sufren aveces bloqueo mentales, lo que se debe de hacer es repetir el mismo camino entero que hizo después de varios minutos y con solo una persona, cuantas más personas allá más se bloqueara y no querra subir, el caballo mostraba mucha nobleza ya que le pudo da una coz a cualquier militar de la guardia real y no lo hizo. En esas situaciones es mejor volver a realizar todo el camino desde el principio después de varios minutos que el caballo se relaje y con su jinete habitual sólo y así es como subira sin ningún problema. The horse might be Claustrophobic. I had a horse that hated trailering because he was in a small, confined place. It takes a lot of gentle training to get them to walk into a trailer.

They might benefit from having a different kind of walk up to the box inside - put green matting down or something that maybe makes the horse less nervous - some have had bad experiences with boxes & just presenting them with a different start to the process can be beneficial.

Lyra was like this she’s pretend to load in the trailer but as soon as her feet touch the trailer ramp she stop and just stand there for like 20 mins looking very docile 😂 she was a pain to load at times xx
