I was just introduced to Thackeray and the Drivers, this weekend, by my brother in law, in his garage, with six Bose speakers all around the garage. This band is amazing! Reminds me of Robin Thrower, and a little David Gilmore as well! Excellent 👍

Saw him play a few times from late 70's early 80's in Atlanta, til the last time, about 10 years ago in Seattle. Fueled by desire, talent, coke, booze and ego early on, he was sober the last couple times i saw him. Thought it was the best I ever saw him play. About 2013, with this lineup. He's a true road warrior, and has paid his dues. I appreciate getting to listen to him play..

Jimmy is 6 months my senior -born 350 miles dead east of me , BUT i went to Florida as a baby in the 50's, love listening to him - my style of playing - 55 years years of playing the Blues and I never get sick of it.

I'm the same age as Jimmy Thackery, I am retired from Flying living in north FL. I first met him on November 6, 1996. We , (the Captain and 2 first officers of which I was one) flew him to Amsterdam on his European tour. I had never heard of him, but the other First Officer had contact with him. That First Officer, who is unfortunately no longer with us, highly encouraged us to go out that night in Amsterdam to see him play. We did..... it was amazing. I was damn near in tears at how good he was and is. It's a definite positive memory in my log book. Cheers to you too.

One of my favorite pieces by Jimmy, but then, everything he does can be a favorite. One of the most fun things about him is he rarely does the same song the same.

I too, think that this is one of the best songs out there and I listen to it again and again and enjoy and appreciate it more each time. I do not have favorites of anything, this is so limiting. So my favorite song ,is the one I am listening at that very moment, and at this moment this is my favorite song.

love the Bill WIthers "Usin' Me" homage in the middle, but the tempo was just a bit too adagio for me. I am just grateful such virtuoso blues still exists. Bless your soul, Jimmy Thackery. May you find the fountain of youth.

thanks for watching my video. I agree 100%. I have been attending all of Thackery's Detroit shows since 1993. My favorite live guitar blues artist. Under appreciated, but in the blues guitar world he is a legend.

Wonder what kind of Leslie simulator he uses? Notice he's not pimping for some guitar company that hasn't made a good guitar since 1965. Pre-cbs. JT is the only one living that can make you feel like Roy Buchanan did. His tone is impeccable.

Question: Chops as good as SRV?
@MyronTheHen5 жыл бұрын
I know this man personally. We are legally related, and I consider him a good friend, although we do not keep contact. I have seen him perform over twenty times. I have only ever seen SRV in videos. We can only speculate how amazing a showdown between the two would be, unfortunately.

Hey Scott (this is my main channel) I havent talked to Jimmy since I saw him at Paul Wingos Funeral in Maryland 2016. Wingo was a great jazz musician himself. I roadied for him when he was in The Assassins 1990-91 .I sincerely hope it was not this strat that was stolen . I heard he lives in North Carolina now.Hope life is good!

@@MyronTheHen It's actually a reply to a lot of comments I see on YT. Criticizing my heroes that are not 20 years old and skinny anymore but outplay anyone is shoe leather. Jimmy Thackery is in the category of best of the best. Who do you know living today that has his skills? And I'm an old white dude that witnessed great guitarists since the 60's. No put down intended for his age or race. Only awe and respect.
@MyronTheHen5 жыл бұрын
I'm reluctant to admit that he is, indeed, a senior citizen, because I have known him since well before he became one. He's married to my cousin. His live performance is truly a spectacle that I was lucky enough to experience many times.
