I just got this yesterday and it was like pulling teeth to get it to work. It took me 2 nights and 8 support techs to get it going. It's very glitch and buggy and at first it crashed all the time. I'm really getting tired of resetting and starting from scratch on the setup all the time. It feels like they released it too early before they got all the kinks out of it.

I didn't find the setup any different than the original Gemini Streaming box. However, the Gemini Air is kind of a piece of junk and frequent fails. I have been through 3 of them and have reverted to the original box.

Maybe you don't know how to work things very well because it seems pretty simple and forward I have one so maybe get some help

@@ryangameplay6140 It does until it locks up and need to be reset about every other day. The first one I had for beta testing ran for about 6-8 months without a problem. The replacement worked for about a month and the third on failed within a few days. BTW, I am a retired technician with about 40 years experience installing and repairing sophisticated radars, display systems, communication equipment, video equipment, and other associated equipment. Knowing how to work things is NOT a problem. After researching the Gemini unit online, there were several reports of similar failures. I haven't had a single problem with the original boxes I started with.

Is it fast, and is the picture quality on par with firetv and roku with the direct tv app?

I just signed up for directv streaming. I have two samsung tv's with of course different remotes, so it makes it very difficult to have to learn them both (I'm pushing 70). I've been a directv sat subscriber for almost 30 years and have become accustomed to their remote. That being said, I've read where there are some issues with Samsung devices. Could you elaborate please? Thank you and I appreciate local support.

I just installed the Gemini Air and the backlight on the remote is the worst. It should come on when the remote is moved and stay on long enough to use it! Directv shouldn't have cheaped out on the remote as it is the primary interface to their system.

trying this out to try it as a solution for my mom (directv streaming would be too confusing). worked for the first day or too. then it went to a green screen (audio still worked). tried in different inputs. finally tried a reset, it now works, but the auto setup on samsung tv doesn’t work anymore.

I just ordered one for my garage. I suppose the processing is slightly better than the standard Gemini ? And is there any improvement really to quality of picture and sound ? Probably not. But I do like the convenience of plug and play and nice cable like remote !

No change in the user interface or quality of picture or sound. It is strictly WiFi only as there is no ethernet port, the unit must be plugged directly into the HDMI port on a TV or a female/female feed through adapter will be needed to use an HDMI cable. The other miserable thing is the regular black screen and need to Restart the unit to clear some consistent failure it seems to be prone to.

Is this gemini device required for DIRECTV stream or can I use my Roku or chromecast instead?

You can use your roku I dont know about chromecast

If you have a smart TV, check to see if DirecTV streaming is an available APP. LG TVs do not provide the APP. You would still need a DirecTV Streaming account though.

Does it have the Channel Up and DN buttons for surfing like the old remotes did?

The remote is exactly like the one supplies for the Gemini box and I think the original remotes from the old large interface boxes will work also. All the functions are the same. The only thing that is different is, there is no ethernet connection and it is designed to plug directly into the HDMI port on your TV. Also, you will experience a lot of irritation trying to keep it working properly.

Now I wish I had purchased from your site. 4+ hours with techs from DIRECTV and Vizio and still no audio on my LR TV. Tested on my newer Vizio TV and both video and audio worked. I guess it's my 10 year old 65 LCD that isn't compatible for audio. But, how would I have known that prior to my decision?

I have a question that wasn't covered in this video nor did my sales rep clearly explain it. I have 3 TV's and how do have the other TV's work with this connected to only one TV? Is it going to be necessary to purchase/obtain two more sets of Gemini devices, or will my other TV's, which are smart TV's, be able to use this via the wireless feature? Thanks for your time.

But why do I need the Gemini Air, and why should I pay an extra $15 a month for it (from Diretv Stream)? They sell them for $150, but I could get a top of the line Apple TV box for that. There are many devices that are a lot cheaper and do the same thing and more. (And yes, the remote sucks)

People choose the Gemini Air because there are a lot of people who actually like the remote and because it offers a live-TV first experience which is more similar to traditional pay TV. I think the great thing is you can choose to use your own streaming box or you can choose this one. It's up to you.

Could these be activated on a commercial account that has current satellite service? Snow/rain can really cause issues for Sunday Ticket type situations and having a "hard line" as a backup could be a game saver.

I don't know how many TV's you have running but getting KZbin TV and adding Sunday Ticket is an option. You're limited to watch 3 games at the same time. It'll cost you $349.99 per year.

Does the device get DirectTV lineup from streaming or is the same as if I had a dish. DirectTV has channels not available to streaming that are available on the dish? Thanks.

This is a streaming-only device. It's not meant for satellite TV at all.

You can't use a universal remote with the Gemini Air. It uses a Bluetooth remote.
