I know that being pegless is already really cool, but how can we make it cooler? RNC: Say no more. I'll make your grinds spit sparks. Now, if only they'd come in 33t....

I have one too, I just reamed out the hole on the grail 😂. I like the super light stem tho! And the bar ends are sweet.

You might already have learned this by now but titanium isn't lighter, it's stronger. Titanium parts are normally lighter because they are made with less material and yet can be just as strong, if not stronger. Given how thick this one is, it's pretty much a given it wouldn't be lighter. However they could probably redesign it with less material, maybe something more like brotherhood sprockets (the M-line is what I was thinking of), to yield something much lighter and yet still much stronger and more durable than aluminum. Maybe it could then be cheaper than $125 a pop.

Not sure you could make any ti products cheaper right now. But ti has always been for the dedicated rider, or kid with good income. I'd personally not buy one for the reason you state, but do like replacing steel parts for ti.

Yea man for me I think that connection between Ti being lighter was just assumed because of the huge difference it makes between it and steel parts. I’m excited to get this thing back and on the bike to do my normal riding and see how it holds up

I really hope that Odyssey reintroduces another Key Chain. My Shadow interlock is basically brand new, but I'm considering getting one of these off Ebay right now. I've never had the Key Chain, but I thought it was one of the most innovative chains I've seen for a long time. It's made by Odyssey, so I imagine it's super strong, just been riding halflink so long now that's just a general preference now.

Why are people surprised by Ti parts being heavier than aluminum parts? This is why a Ti part like a seat clamp is a waste and say Ti spokes are great and if you're insanely hard on sprockets, this is a cool idea.

I think for me it’s just the insane weight difference between chromoly and titanium that had me in the mindset that it would just be lighter. We will see once it comes back with less material how much lighter it is than before and how that compares. My Sunday sprocket has held up really well for a couple years now so I’m excited to see how this one does

Ti is not that much lighter than AL its just stronger so you can use less material and that is what makes titanium parts lighter in general.

My 28 tooth Shadow plastic guard sprocket weighs 7.8 ounces also. And I think that is heavy as fk. It takes a beating, so do lighter ones. Considering I mostly ride bowls I'm thinking of putting on a 3 ounce non-guard sprocket. 5 ounces is a lot. I'm not shocked AT ALL that titanium sprocket weighs that much. Some folks seems to think titanium is magical. Sorry RNC, I'm not sold at all.

I like 28 for riding bowls. It's night and day difference being able to get a bitch crank in here and there. Hell, I'd go to 30 even but then I fear not being able to pull up on slow drops.

once you go 28t is it difficult to go back to 25t? i wanna do 30t/9 and i was wondering if its too much, you prefer 28t over 25t?
@austinc2387
@austinc2387 4 жыл бұрын
bummy 906 I would stick with a 28, 30 just seems to harsh for bmx, but do whatever is comfortable
@Brant_Moore
@Brant_Moore 4 жыл бұрын
28 is my preference as well. It’s more readily available because most sprockets come in 28 vs 30 or larger where there’s just less options. And I personally feel like anything above 28 would be too harsh as Austin said. The only real way to know is to try it. Other than the cost, the biggest thing that would happen by switching from 30+ to 28 is having to take links out of the chain

Settle down Beavis! Lol, sorry bud, but your enthusiasm is overwhelming your rationality. While it's true you know I'm not a fan of titanium, so I have my own biases too. But the weight thing alone, it's not worth it. How many people do you know have broken a Sunday sprocket?

Go ride your bike man. These are little kids bikes and just because you don’t like something or don’t see value in it, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist or that people shouldn’t be able to choose to buy it if they want it. You ride what you like and others ride what they like, it’s called freestyle for a reason. Don’t lose sight of that
