Thanks! I spent an hour trying to figure out how to fix it until I gave up and Googled it and luckily I found this simple, easy-to-follow video!

This solutions works for me with SW2021SE and stand-alone MS Office 2016. Ah, this stuff used to work so seamlessly. It's a shame that one must jump through these hoops to be as productive as before, never-minding the collaborative "improvements" that continue to be introduced. Solidworks (desktop) is still really great IMO and I miss the heydays of using it integrated with stand-alone Office software. I feel like things have gotten a bit too "cloudy", but perhaps that's just me.

I was having this issue with Solidworks 2019 design table not being to auto create, and Daniel Howland of our Solidworks VAR Hawkridge Systems said to see what version of Office 365 (32-bit or 64-bit) was installed, as Office 365 64-bit would work for him. I checked Excel (open Excel, go to Account, and About Excel), and I was using 32-bit Office 365, so the 32-bit was uninstalled and 64-bit was installed, and IT FIXED THE ISSUE!!! If you have the issue, then check your Office 365 version, and if using 32-bit, then switch to 64-bit if you can. - Jim Markarian

Thanks for this. I'm getting an error with Office 2007 and I suspecting it may have been through either Autodesk activation issues or Office 365 issues via the browser (don't have it installed on PC). I had to solve this last time by doing a fresh clean install of Windows and SolidWorks. I don't want to have to do this again, but I can't create any design tables. As soon as I try to auto create one, SolidWorks just freezes. :( I think it's time Solidworks switched to using LibreOffice Calc.

I'd the same problem. Now it runs again with SW2019&2020. First of all make sure that the 64bit-version of Excel 365 is installed. If so, close SolidWorks and all Office365 applications, open Apps&Features in Windows and look for the 365Office installation. Click on it and then click "Change". Next step click on the "Repair" option as Quickrepair.

I've been doing this the whole time as if it was meant to be like that haha. To be honest, my experience with design tables in SW is terrible. States (suppressed/unsuppressed functions) are not always imported correctly, can and will be messed up eventually. The design table takes forever to load and save, and the waiting time is exponential everytime the table gets a little more complex. It literally takes 10 minutes to auto-create a table with 20 columns of data over 60 different configurations. I could probably type de data faster than that. It's just ridiculously inefficient.

Hello, I'm having the same kind of issue except with the regular stand-alone copy of Excel 2019. Mine goes one step further, and even after I create the file and try to open it it still does not show a design table in the configurations tab.

Not really an acceptable fix for a production environment. Better to install Excel 2016 and be done with it. Shouldn't have to, but hey.

Solidworks is joke software. Ok to design a bracket, but collapses with real projects. Big mess.
