Best tutorial.... I am new when adding equations to parts I do on a regular basis. Thanks! I'll upload an example when I have time. Thanks lot for this tutorial!

Excellent video. Is there a way to set the min and max length of a part? Let’s say that you wanted to have 500mm as the minimum, and 2000mm as the maximum length of your part in this video. How would you set it up?

I figured it out myself. For anyone interested it´s: = IIF ( "Length" < X , "MinLength" , IIF ( "Length" > Y, "MaxLength" , "Length" ) ). Here X an Y represent your limits, and everything inside quotition marks are global variables you set up. You use the formula as your sketch dimension.

Thank you. Very helpful. Especially the part with the holes.

David , everything you say about one off variables, global variables and such makes perfect sense. What I don't get is how does SW know to put an additional vertical member in the drawing when you change the over all length.? I see no conditionals which checks the distance from the last vertical member and decides to call member by name and place it all the proper distance from the last member from the right side. I really don't see what I am missing. Can you explain this please.

trying to work out how to creat a linked text to auto increment link on a tape measures text to set a variable on the texxt to auto increment to display all the numbers going up. ideas?

So, I would like the tube diameters for all of the pipes that you have shown with some distribution (lets say normall distributed diameters) So something like the ones at the end are smaller, while the ones in the center are thicker. Could you point out how can I do the distribution.? I am using pySW for ease

how to patttern the weldments structure??
@andersaberg35396 жыл бұрын
Is there any way I can use an equation to control the rotation angle of a structural member (weldments)?
@michaeltownsend12065 жыл бұрын
Create the sketch for the weldment on a reference plane that is driven by an angle dimension. Then drive the angle of the reference plane using equations.

This is fine for parts but I want to be able to control part features from assemblies without making every part in the assembly an internal part. It would also be helpful to make changes in the assembly and have those changes translate into part configurations.
@JeromeDH9210 жыл бұрын
Did you figure out how to convert changes in new part configurations?

The only thing I have found is DriveWorks Express. Do a youtube search for tutorials.

When I want to make parts that change with the assembly, I first make my planes visible in the assembly, then I make a sketch of the part (in the part-file) and put this sketch on the correct plane. Then I make a boss-extrude of the in the assembly to the next visible plane. Now you have your part which changes when you change the distance between the planes. Can you do something with this?
