great tutorial for motion in solidworks, but i wonder, it is possible if we used configuration on sub assembly rather than using part and move manually ?
@MLCCADSystems5 ай бұрын
You can change a lot of things in the timeline, but the configuration of a component is not one of them. As a workaround, you could insert both configurations and toggle visibility on them at the same time, making it look like nothing changed but you swap out two instances of the same subassembly. There are several different ways to accomplish a result like this, but each one has unique challenges to overcome. Good luck!

can someone help me, my animation time line doesn`t show up when i select the motion study tab
@MLCCADSystems2 жыл бұрын
It is likely because the timeline is pulled all the way down. Try to hover over the bottom edge and see if you can grab it. It is a very thin edge.

The Motion Manager timeline is a toolbar that can be hidden or shown. Go to View > Toolbars > MotionManager and the motion study tab should display at the bottom of the screen next to the Model tab.

@MLCCADSystems2 жыл бұрын
@@mauriziozappala2973 One possible cause is that the timeline is collapsed all the way down. See if you hover over the top of the tab and get a drag selector that will allow you to drag it up and expand it so you can see what is inside.

Hi thank you for your content. I do have a problem that isnt part of this video neighter did I found any solution for this. So my problem is that as soon i hit the animation the focus switches of my object to nowhere. So how can I define the camera view lets say at 0 seconds from top view that it is exactly what i see than to 2 sec changing to isometry? Thank you
@MLCCADSystems3 жыл бұрын
Great question, and it is covered in one of the videos (but I forget which) so I'll answer it again here for you. The very top line of the animation timeline is the "Orientation and Camera Views" and most likely the first key is a saved view of an empty part of your graphics window. You have two options to fix it. 1) Maneuver your display where you want it to be, right click the key at t=0 on that row, and choose Replace Key. Now it will always revert to this preferred view instead of the blank one. 2) Right click the Orientation and Camera Views row and choose "Disable playback of view keys". This one is my favorite because then it completely leaves your view orientation alone. You can rotate to any orientation, hit play, and nothing happens with your view!

thank you for educating on this aspect of motion study/animation. i am trying to implement this workflow for a product visualization. changing material to transparent still leaves the edges of the parts visible and thus is not equivalent to hiding the parts. can you advise?
@kraptastic3333 жыл бұрын
it seems like having a material with transparent amount =1 would be a good way to quickly toggle transparency
@MLCCADSystems3 жыл бұрын
Consider changing the parts to Shaded instead of Shaded with Edges, either for the entire timeline or just at the beginning of the fade out. The edges do not change transparency with the faces, so turn them off so they won't stay visible as the part fades out.

@@MLCCADSystems thank you very much what is possible reason of having red timebar and red keys sometime
@MLCCADSystems3 жыл бұрын
@@MuhammadAwais-jh2dy Red changebars or a red bar on the timeline scale indicates that a solution cannot be found for that constraint. Assembly mates can be fully-defined or over-defined in an assembly, but in a motion study since things are moving it can become over-defined only for certain periods of time. The item that is causing the problem or the time that the problem exists will be turned red after rebuilding to help you understand why it may stop moving.
@MuhammadAwais-jh2dy3 жыл бұрын
@@MLCCADSystems thank you very much so in general I should make assemble fully defined ?? How i can rebuild the problem ?
@MLCCADSystems3 жыл бұрын
If the assembly is fully defined and you use distance/angle mates to drive the motion, it should work out OK as long as you are using the right type of study. Check out this video for a run-through of various approaches and which study types they work with. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2i7fnWJrKiMfqM

The zoom in does not work for me.
@MLCCADSystems Жыл бұрын
Are you having trouble with zooming in inside SOLIDWORKS in general, or creating view keys to adjust the zoom level along the timeline to allow it to zoom in and out? If you want to adjust the view orientation, make sure the keys are being generated or replaced manually, as the auto-key function does not create view keys automatically as you naviggate and setup your timeline.

Hey MLC CAD. Going slightly off topic but Modelled a 4 cylinder engine and doing a displacement and velocity Plot through Motion analysis. Hoping you could assist me with the results. Is it Normal to get 160x 10^3 m/sec as velocity and 200x 10^3 m displacement on the pistons?
@MLCCADSystems3 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like you're missing some mates or contacts and the engine is ejecting the pistons. With a 100x10^3 m displacement I'm assuming your pistons disappear almost immediately from the graphics view when you play or calculate the study, which is what happens when you don't have a floor or walls to stop it. Double check your mates, make sure the pistons are not free to disconnect when you drag them, and if necessary work on removing redundancies in your assembly. Keep watching the videos, hopefully they'll get you where you need to be!

Would someone tell me how much RAM is enough for animation my system is running on 16GB but too slow it is .
@MLCCADSystems2 жыл бұрын
The answer is almost always "it depends" but if you don't have enough physical RAM it will use virtual memory on your hard drive and then it will be SLOW. A good guideline is that you should never use more than 75% of your memory during normal operations. 75% may seem like plenty, but if a large memory block is requested and your memory is fragmented it won't be able to fit into the RAM memory slots and it will cache to the hard drive, killing performance. 16 GB is definitely on the low side, and if your files or workflow are demanding of more it can quickly be used up.
