It's so good to see you back in the Wye Valley. I know the area well,as I was born between Ross and Lydbrook. The area is absolutely beautiful and I always love to go back to visit. My ancestors came from the Forest of Dean, great grandfather being a free miner. Thank you for the video.

I'm so glad you enjoyed my soundtrack Anna! 😀 It's my Forest of Dean theme, and one of my oldest compositions, although what you heard here is a new version of it. it was lovely being back here to film in the area again. I'm glad you like the look of it, it's certainly worth visiting. Thanks for all your lovely comments Anna and for taking the time to watch 👍

My old area! 40 years ago i would have been a kid playing up in the woods and lanes of Hangerberry. It was a great area up grow up. Lived there up until 2017 and moved to Scotland. Forest of Dean in the summer is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your walk 👍

It is always great to hike trails from long ago. Each one holds a special memory. Din, Dins. I've not heard that for years. That took me way back. It is certainly a beautiful area, Patrick, and I can see why you love it so much. I'm like you, I love a church for its architecture and history alone. They were definitely a centre of village life way back when. Thank you for sharing Patrick. I look forward to more from this area. Was that a new composition too?
@solitaryrambler6 ай бұрын
Although I had of course plotted this route a while back, this brought back lots of special memories when I was here. Haha yeah I think din dins came from childhood 😁 I always love going inside churches where possible, so lovely to get inside the one at English Bicknor. The music was actually one of my oldest compositions, albeit a new version for this video. It's my Forest of Dean theme. Thanks for watching and commenting Chris, much appreciated 👍

Back walking along the paths in Lydbrook forty years later, and now only if you had a time machine eh! Patrick.😃 With a fast changing world, in areas like this where the landscape has changed little in that period. it's easy to slip back into your own time machine of the mind. Hopefully, the Forest will continue to look lovely for many decades to come.
@solitaryrambler6 ай бұрын
it was weird being back walking that particular route 40 odd years after I first did it 😀 I'm sure the Forest will always look as lovely as it has always done whilst I've been around 👍

I cannot believe its been six years since you were last there. Time fly's. You always seem in your element in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, it's definitely your spiritual home. So many lovely villages and homes there. Some with fantastic views too. Nice shot of the daffodil too. Always nice to see them knowing winters behind us. Really enjoyable and hope you're fully recovered now. Cheers Patrick 😊

Hello Patrick , nice to see you back in the Forest , we really enjoyed Lydbrook the viaduct was of interest as I have a very good print of it as it was in the 1930s , I wish I was able to attach a photo , the artist is a friend his name is Eric Bottomley he is famous for his train painting all over the world , if you search his name and look up the print Summer in the Forest his work is amazing and the trains are second to none . Thanks for a lovely walk Patrick.

Morning Shaun, it was wonderful being back in the Forest. Nice to know you've got a print of the viaduct. I've seen many photos online of it and find the history of the old railway lines in the Forest very interesting. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Grand to be back in your favourite part of Britain, Patrick. It looks a lovely area, as we've seen in some of your earlier videos. The viaduct that went across Lydbrook looked quite astonishing when it was in use. A pity that the railway line had to close. The church at English Wicknor looks brilliant with its lovely exterior and interior. The surrounding countryside with the River Wye, has some excellent views. Thank you for this presentation, Patrick.

Hello Patrick! Sorry, I don't often get chance to watch other KZbinrs videos but I do really enjoy yours, and I love the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean too. This was a really lovely walk Patrick and, knowing what is involved in putting a video together, I can tell you have worked extremely hard on this. Your music composition was excellent too. I fairly recently followed the Wye Valley Railway route from Chepstow to Tintern and was blown away by the beauty. So glad you got chance to return to your homelands for another explore and wander. Hope you had a good week. Take care, Paul

I also watched your Tall Ships film as I was in Gloucester too last Monday, not realising this event was happening before I got there. Thanks again Paul, all the best 👍

So good to get them memories firing Patrick amid the Wye too - gotta say it was looking nice. I enjoyed the route - deep a rural out back there. I've never done it but I'm checking the route out now. I might walk it one day - credit to you. Well, I must agree I can't separate the forest from the Wye Valley either. They come hand in hand. The rain held off - good going. Mark
@solitaryrambler6 ай бұрын
This fired loads of memories for me Mark. The Wye was looking good when I was there, great to see it again. This is certainly a rural outback, a route in one of the less touristy parts of the area, so it would indeed be a good one for you to do. This was the best of the few days weatherwise during my stay in March, although it wasn't too bad in the end, I made the most of it. Thanks Mark, all the best 👍
