When I read this book for the first time, I literally cried several times throughout the whole thing. It's just such a heart felt book and I don't even know the right words to describe it.

Thank you for sharing your review about the book. I started reading it and I feel emotional. This is a real life story that many children have to go trough in order to reunite with their parents.

I just finished this book. The intimate and enthralling details of this journey to the US for Javier Zamora and his beautiful protectors was an unprecedented story for me as a reader. It was difficult to consume but I felt I needed to bare wittiness to this real life experience for so many immigrants.

I finished reading it maybe about a couple months ago but I can definitely relate to you with the way it just deeply resonates. As a 1st gen Latino it is definitely difficult to get through in its entirely but once I finished it. I immediately got emotional and I started doing my research in interviews about him. I’m so inspired by him and Jose M. Hernandez that I too hope someday my story can touch the lives of many other migrants and 1st generation families. And hope Javier reunites with Chino, Carla, and Patricia. Thank you for this amazing review! If I didn’t find it myself, I definitely would have picked it up after your video! :)

Yes! I felt the need to watch as many of his interviews as possible. I've really admired the way he has used his talents and platform. Thank you so much for your kind words too. We all have stories that need to be told and I hope you gets to share yours with as many people as possible ❤️

I've been reading the book, and I'm almost done. I first heard about the book because I knew his spouse; I went to college with her. She posted about Javier Zamora's book on Instagram back in April and how he won a book prize for it before the paperback version was released in June. I forget which award he won. But I was curious about the book and was able to borrow a copy from my local library. It's so moving and emotional. I can't even imagine what he was going through at the time. I also like watching his interviews. I hope Javier can reunite with Chino, Patricia, and Carla someday.

Wondering, have you read "Enrique's Journey" by Sonia Nazario?? Another story of young boy making the journey. I'm definitely going to read Solito. Thanks for a great review!! 👍👍

This sounds amazing! My library has the audiobook, so I'm putting a hold on it (although it's a 12 week wait despite there being over 20 copies - so many people are reading it!).

I am.so glad people are reading it! When I checked it out of my library there was no wait but by the time I finished there were a number of people who had placed holds on it 🎉

Not this version no. It's too long and a lot of adult themes.
