Solitude Aeturnus: Seeds of the Desolate

When we did the record Rob was 100% ready to do the vocals the day that we started. I set him up at the mic, opened a track and recorded him. What you hear here and what you hear on the record is what he sang every take. He sang every song straight through and although I did several takes each take was pretty much the same each time. Rob knew what he wanted and although I was the record's "producer" there was nothing that I could add to what he envisioned and performed. That rarely happens!

Robert's live performance has no difference with recordings and even more amazing. I've seen live Therion, Draconian, Esoteric, Lacrimosa, I hope to see Solitude Aeternus one day. I suppose it to be a little challenging to come to Europe but who knows. I would love to learn more about band haven't found much. Where can find news from band?

I remember going to Sound Warehouse (I think?) in Arlington Texas to buy 'Countdown to Extinction' by Megadeth. THIS (Beyond the Crimson Horizon) was blasting. I asked the guy near the DJ booth (CD player?) who this was. He told me it was his band. I went home that day with both CDs. This music gave me that same jolt of electricity the first four Queensryche releases gave me!! First I played Megadeth, then I played the Solitude Aeturnus record about 100 times before I ever got back to the Megadeth record (mediocre). Been a fan of S.A. since. Seen them at least five times.

My cousin is Edgar the guitar player on the left side of the stage he told me so many stories about the road and about recording those great albums how about the tours with candlemas and King Diamond this band is awesome only second to candlemas but I think that into the depths of Sorrow and Beyond the Crimson Horizon are my favorite too also Adagio is really great great I think this genre of Doom metal should be more acclaimed but I guess it was not meant to be mainstream

Darrin D. here from Last Chapter fame(or not, more like it), but no matter, I was priviledged enough to be at this show many ,many moons ago and got to record with Robert Lowe on a few occasions... and man he sent chills up mine spine several times at both live shows and in the studio.The first show I saw Solitude at was Joe's Garage in Ft Worth opening up for none other than Candlemass, just fucking beautiful, what a night. I went from being a Heavy Metal fan to being a Doomster through and through from then on.

Still one of the best SA songs and a great, rare video. SA remain one of the best doom bands in metal history and there isn't a single bad song to be heard from them. Such a shame there will be no more. Rob was one of the best vocalists in metal and this track is a showcase to that. The band played some of the heaviest doom I've ever heard and I never tire of listening to them . . . very loud, of course.

Robert Lowe was fuckin awesome in the 90s,i always thought he didn't live up to his full potential in candlemass, don't get me wrong the albums he did were good but when you saw him live with them he seemed a little half hearted, especially when you see him deliver outstanding performances like this where his voice is godlike and with incredible stage presence! Maybe he just hasn't aged well I dunno 🤔
