I changed to induction cooking in my truck for the same reason you are thinking. I couldn’t cook in the wind and wild weather. Since changing to induction, I never have to worry about not being able to cook. It’s much faster as well. Another great video. Well done. 🤙🏼

Induction is certainly better but there's a lot to consider, which I guess is why you're on the fence about it. Notwithstanding the total cost, here are the things that I reckon are important to think about: 1. Space. You need the space for a substantial battery, inverter, plus charger/s. The battery and inverter need to be substantial in order to handle the necessary power output 2. Power output. The battery should be 200 amp hours at the minimum but 300 more realistically, and capable of outputting at least 150 amps continuously (for a 12 volt battery). The inverter needs to be pure sine wave and capable of handling at least 1500 watts continuously, but better to be at least 2000 watts. You need these high specs for a few reasons, including: - it's important to have decent wattage headroom for the longevity of your system (and safety). Batteries and inverters will run cooler and last a lot longer if they're not overloaded. - appliances often draw way more power when you first switch them on, so the system needs to accommodate the peak load. - portable induction cook tops tend to use around 1000 watts even on their lowest setting. The induction turns on and off at lower cooking settings, rather than using a continuously lower output. From my experience, Giandel inverters are reliable and good value, but there are plenty of others these days. 2. Battery chemistry. The high power output means that you really need to use a LiFePO4 battery, as similar sized lead acid batteries can't sustain that power output. The voltage of lead acid batteries sag too much at high power, which drastically reduces how much you can get out them per charge and also how many cycles they'll last. Beware of unknown branded LiFePO4 batteries. There are some shonky rip offs in Australia. But you also don't need a really expensive name brand. I can't recommend one from my own experience as I build my own (and I don't recommend you do that), but the Kings batteries seem to be getting good reviews. 3. Charging system. Do you want to charge from your car engine, from 240 volt power, or from solar? While you can get chargers that handle two or three of these options, they're expensive and it might be more practical to get individual chargers for each type of power input. How fast do you want to be able to recharge? Chargers get a lot more expensive if you want high power output for faster charging. If you go with a charger that runs off your car's alternator then don't get one that goes much above 20 amps, as the higher output ones can kill your car's alternator (can be very costly to fix). Similarly, 20-30 amps is a good limit for solar chargers unless you plan to carry an enormous solar panel array. In Australia, I'd suggest Renogy for a car charger and Victron for solar. They're both reliable brands that won't break the bank in these low power options. Get the car charger professionally installed. There are plenty of 240 volt options and you don't need a really expensive one. I've even used $30 eBay chargers successfully - they just need to output constant voltage (around 15 volts) and constant current (whatever output you choose as long as it's less than the battery's rated max. charging value). But going with a reputable brand is always a good idea.. Hope this helps!

This is super helpful thank you! I definitely have the power / inverter set up for it but I think I’ll keep the standard burner cooktop as a back up if I need it just in case. 🙏🏼
